A sampling of 2018 Amateur Draft Rankings indicates the Beavers could have as many as 6 players drafted through the first 5 rounds. The consensus is that Madrigal and Larnach will be first round selections with Nick ending up with the Phillies, White Sox or possibly the Giants. Larnach will end up the Cubs, Brewers, Nationals, Royals or Devil Rays. Of course that can all go haywire within the very few first picks in the draft. Here are a few mock drafts I’ve run across.
* Michael Gretler has been drafted previously in 2014 and again in 2017. Certain that he'll be selected again this year. Bryce Fehmel could also be selected on the second or third day. Dylan Pearce is also draft eligible.
BASEBALL AMERICA TOP-500 First Round - #3 Nick Madrigal. First Round - # 27 Trevor Larnach. Second Round - #63 Caydn Grenier. Sixth Round - # 173 Drew Rasmussen. Ninth Round – #262 Steven Kwan. Eleventh Round - #320 Jacob Pfennigs (recruit). Fourteenth Round - #452 Jayce Easley (recruit).
RAWLINGS PERFECT GAME TOP-350 First Round - #3 Nick Madrigal. First Round - #24 Trevor Larnach. Second Round - #59 Luke Heimlich. Fourth Round - # 122 Caydn Grenier.
MLB.COM (FIRST ROUND) Madrigal # 3 to the Phillies Larnach # 24 to the Brewers
DRAFTOPIA.com TOP-30 Madrigal #2 to the Giants
BLEACHER REPORT TOP-35 First Round - # 4 Nick Madrigal (White Sox) First Round - #24 Trevor Larnach (Cubs)
DRAFT SITE.com TOP-140 First Round - #3 Nick Madrigal (Phillies) First Round - #33-Compensatory Trevor Larnach (Royals) Second Round - #60 Caydn Grenier (Brewers) Fourth Round - #111 Drew Rasmussen (Padres)

Two thoughts....
Rawlings must not read the newspapers, and it wouldn't surprise me to see Gretler, Fehmel, and even guys like Jack Anderson go way higher than expected.
Team love to draft non prospect seniors in those high middle rounds (rounds 4-10) where there is still a little bonus money, lowball the senior and then throw the money at the teenager they draft in the 20th round...
The MLB draft is a weird beast. But clearly the most fun draft of all the major sports.

In his interview on the Joe Beaver Show, he did not rule out playing pro ball if drafted; he's always welcome at grad school when he is ready!

They only use it on those 20th rounders if they catch a break on negotiations in the top 10.

It's been mentioned on Pac-12 Network about 17 times (Jack's going to Regis!). Nearly edging out 2017's "Adley was a kicker who once tackled Christian McCaffrey" for most popular Beaver baseball anecdote by an announcer in town for the weekend. HM: Kwan's walk up song is Dancing Queen.

I believe that Jake Mulholland is draft eligible as a 21 year old sophomore. "High school players, if they have graduated from high school and have not yet attended college or junior college; College players, from four-year colleges who have either completed their junior or senior years or are at least 21 years old; Junior college players, regardless of how many years of school they have completed." I'll truly enjoy this regional, this team as far as they can go. As PC has many huge holes to fill. Don't see that happening in one year. Losing far too many valuable pieces to the draft and graduation.
