If we are going to take it all again this year we cannot worry about when we start our pitchers.
We have to assume that our 3rd and 4th starters can get us through this weekend or we might as well just write off the chance of a championship now.
I would rather our 3s and 4s face the opponents 3s and 4s than their 1s or 2s.
One thing I noticed in the last few weeks is that both WSU and UCLA kept back their best starters for Sunday in order to get at least one win in Goss. They basically gave up the chance for a series win in order to get at least a single win. So while we lost on Sundays recently, Jonny Wholestaff was competing with 1s instead of 3s.
LSU may think Bush can steal a game for them but it is a gamble. If they win then BH gets their 1 and our staff gets their 2. I say BH wins and even if our staff loses on Sunday, we will be pitching even on Monday. With our offense, I like our chances better than I like LSU's.
Let's face it. Nicholson in 2006 was a once in a lifetime pitcher whose arm would never fall off. We cannot even pretend LH or BF can do the same in Omaha.
With that in mind, we need to ride on the horses that brought us. If the staff can get us through this weekend then we are really ready for Omaha. If not, then it really does not matter.
