1st Opponent Northwestern State: their FRIDAY Night Pitcher is Ridge Heisler (Jr. LH):
7-2, 3.01 ERA, 90 innings 72 SO, 21 BB, WHIP = 1.22.
Pretty Good, though Southland Conference is only the 17th RPI Conference, according to Warren Nolan.

I have to guess Casey is going to save Luke for Game 2 on Saturday given the opponent lineups, regardless if we play LSU or SDSU. Game 2 opponent will likely have more hitters from left side to give Luke a better matchup: - LSU - 3 regular starters bat left, including the top 2 avg and their C, and 2 of their 4 bench guys with 60+ ABs bat left. The 2 regular bench hitters that bat right are both listed as C, so against Luke, we could see 7 starters bat right.
- SDSU - 4 of their regular starters (including 4 of top 5 avg) bat left. Their entire bench is listed hitting right (except 1 switch), but none of them have more than 36 ABs for the entire season.
- NWSU - Looks to me like they start 6 right-hand hitters, including 3 of the top 4 avg. A switch is their 5th best avg, and they only start 2 left side hitters with only 1 on the bench.
All respect to Northwestern State with a conference tourney winning streak and a solid road record, but I think starting Luke against a team that is so right-side hitting dominant could be a wasted opportunity to match up with a RHP starter, whether that is Bryce or Abel/Gambrel. Especially since LSU has already seen Bryce, I will guess he goes in Game 1 to avoid that possible matchup. Game 2 is every bit as important as Game 1 to get to the cat-bird seat, and I think the coaches are likely to play it that way while using their top 2 guys. Any other guesses?

That's exactly the way I see it.......so it probably won't happen that way!

The thing that bothers me most about this regional is that Northwester has a Kwan.

The thing that bothers me most about this regional is that Northwester has a Kwan. whoa! Or should that be “Whew...” - because it’s the lads’ first name. Surnames always take priority. They also have “David Fry”. Last I heard he was the final one to surrender at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge a couple years ago. Glad he got his life turned around.
