LSU is indeed a bit down this year (though they won 3 games during the SEC Tournament).
This season LSU was 9-10 against top 25 RPI teams.
And only 26-24 against top 100 RPI teams [OSU was 24-6 against top 100 RPI].

We may never face LSU. SDS seems to have a good club on paper and a history of winning. NCAA once again punishes the Pac-12 with their seeding and placement of teams and how they will potentially line up. If you think this is once again a coincidence, you are sorely mistaken. TV and $$$ is what make the wheels roll. The big tv contracts ($ and viewership/advertising) with the ACC and SEC in baseball rule the day.

Strange place to put LSU.. Not complaining as I would love to see the Beavs bury them in Corvallis. I am complaining. Of the #2 seeds, I would rank LSU as about the fourth team that I did not want to see. The Tigers are a great well-coached, fundamentally sound team with a ton of experience that travels well, built to give teams like the Beavers problems. Mississippi State, Purdue, Southern Mississippi, and Tennessee Tech are out there. However, Florida State, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Mississippi get them. This feels like a slight for the #3 team overall. Hopefully, San Diego State does Oregon State a favor and knocks off LSU. Otherwise, I hope that the Beavers use last year's College World Series debacle (or the 2012 Baton Rouge Regional) as fuel, should the Beavers and Tigers meet up again. Looking at opponents, Oregon State has never played Northwestern State. Oregon State is 12-7-1 all-time against San Diego State. In the last 10 years, the Beavers are 6-2 against the Aztecs, 5-1 in San Diego (22-3 win in 2008, 18-2 loss in 2012, and outscoring the Aztecs 22-2 in a four-game sweep in 2013) and 1-1 in Corvallis in 2016 (6-5 loss and 9-6 win). Oregon State is 1-4 all-time against LSU. LSU went 2-0 against Oregon State in the Baton Rouge Regional in 2012 and 2-1 against Oregon State in the College World Series last year.

So how many SEC teams in? Only 4 Pac12 and a guarantee of at most 2 advancing to Omaha as they positioned the 4 teams opposite each other in regional play. 10 SEC teams.

Honestly, the biggest concern is a UCLA super regional matchup. Absolutely. Honestly, the biggest concern is a Gonzaga Super Regional matchup. I am less concerned about UCLA than about Gonzaga. Hopefully, Canisius wins, but I would rate Minnesota second as the team that I would most like to see.

Good team, but OS beats them 9 out of 10 times, especially in Goss.

SDS might just take care of LSU for us. OS over NW St. SDS over LSU. LSU over NW St. OS over SDS. SDS over LSU again. OS over SDS.

Baseball is a strange game. Best team frequently loses. 100 seasons in majors are rare because bottom feeders rise up once or twice out 3-4 and bite someone.

Lots of good teams out there capable of winning a mini tournament but if we can’t beat these teams in our own backyard then we don’t belong in Omaha. My username would some up the loss. Go Beavs!!!

I'd rather face them in baseball here in Corvallis than football in Baton Rouge! Get the W and the skin of a Tiger will look good on our wall of memories.
