It's only a minor criticism on my part. I get it was senior day, and an important game, but the minutes played by OSU players vs UCLA were weird. Weirdball express weird. I also get he knows his team way better than I can even imagine, but what's the deal here coach? You headed into Ralph Miller territory? 5 players 40 minutes each? Even he only did it once.

Sam got 17 minutes, Katie got 6 minutes and Marie got 4 minutes. None of them scored however.

In case you didn't notice...that game wasn't held at the Boy's and Girl's Club. There is no requirement that everyone play. No participation ribbons are handed out, nor expected. We were playing a team of sharks, no...Piranha! Rueck played whoever he thought was ready and up to the challenge. My wife was hoping Jen would get in for more than she did, being Senior Day and her family made the trip and all. I told her the game was in doubt until we hit 1:25 and showed we could dribble out of trouble AND hit our foul shots. UCLA is the one team I don't want to see again this year. They are Uber aggressive and incredibly difficult to beat when their shots are falling because they are always in your face, always pawing at the ball, always applying pressure--then subbing 4 more to keep up the pace. I think the refs just get tired of calling fouls on them and let them play on.

Great comment, mrazz. I never felt that the ball was secure unless Weise was bringing it up. Rueck has generally used his bench, and I expect he will return to that practice in the future. He did it the way it had to be done yesterday. I think it's fair to expect a tighter rotation during tournament time.
I also agree on the point on the fouls. UCLA just fouls multiple times every possession until the refs accept that practice as the norm.

I don't mean to demean the B&G Club--both of my daughters are playing there this year! I still cringe when "everyone" gets to play, but at that level it IS EXPECTED and I agree with it. By 9th grade that is all over. Kids today have different lives than most of us had way back when...in the "black and white days" as my youngest refers to it. Some things they get better and some things they just flat miss out on. Such is life.
