JAYCE EASLEY INF 5’11” 155 B-SH / T-R PHOENIX, AZ. -SANDRA DAY O’CONNOR HS
Easley is a MIF that has played SS at S.D. O’Connor HS for 3 years. A contact hitter with developing power that is the prototypical leadoff man, he gets on base frequently – 89 times in 32 games in 2018. Was successful on 41 of 42 stolen base attempts this season. Has good length and is a fluid fielder with range and and a quick release on his throws. Has plus speed and is a skilled baserunner. Played on the left side of the O’Connor infield with slugging 3rd baseman Nolan Gorman, who will be a first round selection in the June draft. Son of Damion Easley who played 5 years of minor league baseball before spending 17 years with 6 different clubs in the major leagues. Jayce’s older brother Nate is currently playing minor league ball in the S.D. Padres organization
SEASON STATISTICS:
2018: Started all 32 games for SDO. Was 36-90 and a .400 BA. Scored 45 runs and had 21 RBI. Had 8 doubles, 4 triples and 1 home run. He drew 29 BB and 9 HBP while striking out only 14 times. OB% was .562 and his SLG% was .611. Fielding % was .934 and he used his blazing speed to pilfer an impressive 41 of 42 steal attempts.
Sandra Day O’Connor completed their season with a 22-10 record playing in several national tournaments prior to their 6A-Desert Valley Section play. Games of note were their 4-0 win over Santa Ana, CA.-Mater Dei and loses to nationally ranked Florida powers, Calvery Christian (consensus #1 team in America) and American Heritage. SDO posted a 9-2 Section record and in the Arizona 6A playoffs defeated, Phoenix-Desert Vista 4-3 (8), Mesa-Westwood 10-2, lost to Mesa-Skyline 4-5, defeated Mesa-Skyline 9-4 and won the State 6A Championship beating Glendale-Mountain Ridge 7-1 and the nation's top ranked high school LHP, Matt Liberatore.
2017: Started all 29 games, was 38-82 and a .463 BA with 7 doubles, 5 triples, and 2 home runs. Scored 33 runs, had 13 stolen bases in 15 attempts and drove home 9 runs. Had 14 BB and 2 HBP with 8 K’s. Posted a .551 OBP and .682 SLG%. Fielding % was .959
SDO finished the season with a 19-10 record and 6-4 in Section play. The Eagles were defeated in the opening round of the Arizona 6A playoffs by Phoenix-Pinnacle, 3-2.
2016: Playing 7 games as reserve IF his sophomore season. Was 3-12 for a .250 BA. Had 1 double, scored 2 runs with 3 RBI. Had 1 BB, 2 HBP, and 2 K’s. OB% was .400, SLG% was .250. Fielding % was 1.000.
Sandra Day O.Connor completed a 30-7 season and 8-3 in Section play. In the Arizona state 6A playoffs, the Eagles defeated Phoenix-Desert Vista 8-1, Glendale-Mountain Ridge 5-4, Chandler-Basha 12-2, Gilbert-Parry 4-0, and lost the state championship game to Chandler-Hamilton 4-2.
SUMMER BASEBALL:
In 2014 and ’15, Jayce played for the Western Warriors Baseball Academy 14u and 15u Select teams.
In 2016, played for the Arizona Diamondbacks Scout Team RPG Tourney in Long Beach, and for the Baseball Northwest Team in the 16u World Series.
In 2017, played for Baseball Northwest Team in 5-Day Wilson Premier Classic.
