I'm behind on the podcasts. MP was talking w/Cayden and said 2x's that Cayden is best SS he has seen.
So who ya got? D Bar has to be in the convo. Tyler Smith. Maybe Cayden?
2nd tier Ryan Dunn. I loved watching him play
I think by best means more to me than he made amazing plays in the field and hit in the clutch. To me he better make his teamates better. I think Cayden does....a little. But Nick is the heart and soul. Without Nick maybe that allows Cayden to emerge?
I think I have to go Darwin. His stats don't say so. He could lose concentration and boot a ball. But he had "it"
I'm not totally sold on this. Persuade me

I think D Bar was maybe not the best ss the Beavs have had but he he is my favorite, mostly because of three consecutive CWS births during his three seasons. That guy was a gamer. The relay throw to home that extinguished a NC rally was unbelievable.

He had that flair and made the tough play when it mattered. Now talk centerfielders. Kwan is up there. Way up there. He takes the terror out of deep shots, quick-droppers, long benders. And does it with flair.

D Bar has such a great presence and personality - a great leader. How cool would it be to see him help coach the Beavs when he has decided his playing days are over? Don't know if he was or was not our best ss ever (did win a gold glove at mlb level - so to the comments that he perhaps was not the best fielding ss I say.... hmmmm). He was a tremendous leader and in a coaching capacity I'd have to think he could inspire the hell out of his players.

D Bar is my favorite all time OSU BB player: in-state recruit, 3 trips to Omaha, key part of best defensive play in OSU BB history, leader supreme. Best shortstop range: Grenier Strongest shortstop arm: Grenier Best SS highlight reel: Grenier Barney gold glove was for 2B

Is Steve Lyons a candidate for this thread? If so, he gets my vote.

He would take a terrible route to the ball...then make up for it by making a sensational catch. I think there was one in LCF vs @stanford that was unreal. It sorta was fun to watch Max in the sense of Reverse rollercoasters. First your stomach drops as you think there is no way he can make the play after his start. Then WHAM! He caught it???!!!

The late Ken Bowen. Outstanding, outstanding player who would have played on any of our CWS clubs.

Favorite OSU player ever? Joe Gerber. Looked like an IM softball player, absolutely raked.

I think you nailed it on why Kwan is so good. He takes such a direct route to the ball. His gps software is the latest and greatest.
