'Hope Nick doesn't end up lost forever with the pathetic 'Sox. If the M's had ANY brains (they don't), they'd trade up and pick Nick off.
Unfortunately, instead you can bet on the M's making a stupid pick who'll likely flame out in a few years (BTW, that is almost EXACTLY what happened when they passed up the chance to draft Conforto rather than some unproven high school hotshot who never amounted to anything. Yes, boys and girls...the M's COULD have drafted Conforto, but they knew better [dripping with sarcasm] and passed him up). F*****g idiots.

Since when did they cover college baseball and prospects? For draft coverage I stick to Baseball America and mlb.com.

The draft 'needs' of the top 5 teams must be changing daily! And... you get that how? Lol CBS and others are mocks... you know what they are right? So just as each teams' draft board and order are different mocks are pure guess work. The top 50 or so talents are fairly consistent, but their order is far from it. Why? Team/organizational needs vs talent left on the board. After the 1st couple rds, its more based on filling out rosters with longer term developmental talent... but still highly susceptible to "need" interms of position, bat, and lack of developing players in a position group. You are in "lala land" to keep stating teams don't draft for need and if they do it is stupid. If MLB drafted the best player available at each draft spot they have they'd have a team full of OF and INF. They draft who they think the best player at their position(s) of need... period. By the way... its the same in every major draft, baseball is just more convoluted because of so many layers and picks. Why would any NFL team take a 1st Rd left tackle? The White Sox have zero decent prospects at 2B, and only two middling prospects at SS. But, have several well thought of younger pitchers thru out their system... hence, several mocks saying Nick to the WS. Will it happen? Who knows... who cares? Nick will be a 1st rounder and teams use "need" as one of their primary determinations in drafting and trades. Always have always will.

So... - you don't know what mock drafts are - mocks are not guess work - you're not in lala land - mocks don't differ - the top 50 not generally agreed on - teams don't have different boards - teams don't have differing needs I'll just stop there, as its pretty apparent who is wrong ROTFLMAO... keep digging. Better yet... before a game this weekend ask one of the clueless scouts if teams don't draft needs. Then go apply for a GM job so you can show other teams it only makes sense to take the best player available😁 PS- of you have yet to get the hint, the wall hitting back, NEED is part of who a team's "best player available" is based. Done...

You keep on laughing there on the floor while the rest of us look down at you. I don't even think you can convince yourself of your arguments sometimes.

I have talked to/sat with/had numerous players scouted... MLB scouts, directors of scouting, and asst GMs... you sir have not... right? But, really... I don't know you, but have you ANY experience other than reading in this area/topic? Since you added "top of the draft"... I have not added this to the draft decisions made... but, a team's need and best talent are complicated by money. If a team can make a pre-draft "deal" (not supposedly allowed, but done all the time) that allows saving slot $ for use later on... it can swing a pick in favor of that player over another... considered more talented or MLB or not. Again, a different type of "need", but that savings and use of may outweigh the "better" player being picked. The thinking is that is exactly why the Twins went Royce Lewis/HS SS over Brendan McKay 1B-LHP/Louisville... the consensus best college player in the draft (1st college player taken/ went 4th to TBay). Twins needed/wanted more $ for later... signed him for $6.7 mil/$1 mil under to use later. Dollars not talent was determining factor. TBay actually signed McKay for over $7 mil... over his slot value. But... I'm sure you'll argue, hence you may have the last word 🤗

Might want to pick a different example then Lewis vs McKay. While that was correct at the time, currently Baseball America has Royce Lewis as a higher ranked prospect.

They are both in A Ball... post holds true for last year's draft. And, Royce is hitting McKay was at .227 last look, but they just began to use McKay on the mound. Last time I looked 2-0 in only 2 app... 11 IP.

You already said you were "done" in the previous response. You just want to keep piling on the wrong, I guess. No one has ADDED the top of the draft to this topic (I won't call it a discussion, because you are incapable of having a discussion) the original topic was YOUR claim that Madrigal would fall in the draft because teams AT THE TOP would be drafting for "need". And NO ONE would suggest that organizational needs don’t have some influence at the very top of the MLB draft, but the OVERWHELMING criterion will be each team’s perceived Best Player Available. There are obviously tons of factors that can push an MLB player up or down draft boards – signability being one that is kind of unique to MLB, but it’s still ludicrous to suggest that Madrigal would fall past the first five because drafting to fill a “need” is their top priority. If he falls, it will be because they think there are better players. And we all KNOW how “connected” you are. You’re so connected that you’ve coached every GD sport at every level, and apparently speak with MLB scouts who feed you lines of bulls%#t.
