The Coaches Poll has OSU and Furd tied for 1st at the top, with OSU getting more 1st place votes than either the trees or Floorida, which falls to 3rd. Combine that with a 7 RPI and we ought to avoid the dreaded #1 seed position that does no one good going into the tournament.

I agree with the #1 seed jinx. We won 2 out of 3 the past weekend. LH was DOMINANT. BF had a strong outing. He can be up and down though. Our Sunday guys just don’t seem to have the mental part of the game and are throwing the wrong pitches, at the wrong time in the count. That double with the sacks loaded was a perfect example...too much of the plate. At the same time, I saw NO example of Beaver baseball, as we had seen on the previous 2 days. No bunting, no timely base running, too many guys trying to go yard, and virtually ‘nothing’ for our big guys ( Trevor, Kwan, Madrigal - robbed a couple of times). Not complaining, these guys have done it all year - just saying that they are likely / due to be stroking this coming weekend. Certainly Luke gives us a plus shot at taking game one. I am only 50/50 on Saturday. However, Bryce seems to focus on the big ones, and this is a big series. Sunday, in my opinion, should just be set up as three innings each ( Abel, Chamberlain, Jake ). Any early inning trouble can be managed by Eisert / Pearce or Burns ). Key is, as usual, stay ahead in the count, keep the ball down and no BB or HBP. That is the only way I can see us taking all three, also assuming offense gets back on track. I don’t see Stanford taking all three, but they will get two - and that kills PAC 12 hopes, but gives us the 8 or better seed. Go Beavers !

Coaches were given a real "teachable moment" on Sunday. Among the many issues from Sunday that need cleaning up was the complete lack of contribution from the bottom third of the order save Joe Casey's two-bagger to lead off the third. Noblach looked over matched during all 3 of his strikeouts including the called third strike at bat. Taylor was also punched out 3 times including his taking a called 3rd strike. Pinch hitting, Armstrong looked bad swinging at bad pitch and was joined by Anderson who also struck out. That totaled a 1 for 10 effort and 9 strikeouts from the 7-8-9 hole hitters. Larnach was the only strike out in the top 6 holes of the order. Those guys are better stickers than that and I'm sure they heard that from the boss.

I'll guarantee that we do not lose this Sunday. Exactly, and it will be easy for our pitchers to stay ahead in the count with no umpire and no batter. Should be a cake walk on Sunday.

Love the optimism - I think the coaches need to stay on each hitter before every at bat ( lay one down )( fly ball ) ( take it to RF) ( don't swing until you see the first strike) ( hit and run on 3&1), etc. Seemed to be some mental fatigue last Sunday.

You should go to the game on Sunday. But get there early, traffic will be brutal.
