I found a page that lists WNBA transactions, from which I gleaned: - The Phoenix Mercury just waived the only centers on their roster not named Brittney Griner or Marie Gulich, meaning Marie likely makes the roster (note - I had no doubt, but the WNBA team roster is only 12 players, so nothing seems to be a given) - Leslie Robinson was waived (Craig's daughter out of Princeton, one of the last draft picks if I recall right) - Emily Potter, Utah center out from Canada was waived - Jillian Alleyne, uo forward drafted by New York last year (didn't play due to injury in the collegiate season) was waived by New York and then signed by Minnesota. - Lexi Bando (undrafted, uo) was waived by Los Angeles (they have Syd as a sharpshooter....) - Mikayla Cowling (Cal) was waived by Connecticut It is interesting how WNBA teams have ~20 people on their roster early and spend a lot of time just waiving folks to get down to 12 (in about the next week or so). Hopefully Syd and Ruth make their team rosters. For example, the Dallas Wings have 3 players identified as Centers (Breanna Lewis, Liz Cambage, Ruth Hamblin) and two F-C on their (now) 14 player roster. It also seems like there is some churn a couple of weeks into the WNBA season once stars playing overseas fulfill their commitment and come on board. I am learning a lot about the WNBA with so many Beavers in the pro ranks! Go Beavers!

Gulich was a lock to make the team once they drafted her in the first round. She will back up Griner. They also drafted a Russian player who has yet to arrive. That would be Raisa Musina a forward who is capable of backing up at center in a pinch so they can safely go with only two centers.
The same can not be said for Weisner, who is in a fight to make the Sparks roster this season. Her main competition comes from vets with guaranteed contracts. If the Sparks cannot trade Williams, she would be to much of a cap hit to release.

I just had an wake up from my nap Senior moment. I used to get the two names mixed up all the time, but I certainly thought I was over that by now. If I think of the first name as well then I don't have that problem lol.

Interesting - not listed on the WNBA transactions page yet..... Wonder if any other team has need of a 6'6" center with skills.... Unfortunately the pre-season isn't very long, so most of the waived players don't seem to land elsewhere. Go Beavers!

Otherwise they might have to play Stuart at that spot and she is no center.

Ruth's got a great career playing overseas - would be nice to see her playing in the WNBA tho.
