Title of the video says 6’0, but he did look to be a little shorter. I’ll go with your 5’10”. I watched about a minute of the video and he could dribble and pass to open players. Looks like a good pickup to me.

Position of need and hopefully he can develop. Lot of good players coming out of Canada, but based on where the players from this school have gone of late I'm not sure if this is a top program. Though they did send Justin Jackson to Maryland. So opening up a pipeline might pay dividends in the future. Welcome Mr. Vernon.

only 5' 10"? well we have gotten killed by short quick point guards with a good outside shot - if he can bring the ball up the court and steer the offense, I don't care if he is as short at that kid from Washington a decade or so ago......or Mugsy.

Any guy that can facilitate w/o a bunch of turnovers and play a lick of D can help the returners a ton! The Pac12 seems to have been going "offensive" the last 4 years. Giving up 60pts/game (WT's first year we were 2nd in D at 59.2/game) used to be near the top of the conference, now it's closer to 70pts/game (this year we were again 2nd in D at 70.3/game). Offensively the Pac12 leader was at 82.7/game, with 11 of 12 team over 70/game... stayed pretty considtent in league play... 10 of 12 scored 70+/game. WT's 1st season 76.6/game lead the league and only 6 of 12 teams score 70/game... in Pac12 play only 4 teams hit the 70/game mark. So... as much as we have lapses on defense, the multiple droughts on the offensive end seem to be the bigger key. So, getting the ball into the hands of a skilled facilitator with 7-8 guys giving good minutes could improve this team dramatically. I'm hard on the WT era as a 'wash' so far. But, it is never too late as I think it may have been an eye opener for him, on many levels, coming into a big time D1 conference. This year is a real important season as far as successes on the court and as a stepping stone to future successes.

Ehh... I dunno bout this pick up.... 2 Star player that is 5'10, only offer is from a nobody crap athletics School called Northern Arizona University?? In my book... That speaks massive Volumes to me. Means He's not even worthy to play the big programs or any power 5 conference basketball program at all. I heavily doubt this addition to the team...

I'm actually really happy with our recruiting class. Bigs like Kelley, Wilson & Washington. All long and athletic. I think it will be a formidable front court in years 2 come. I think they all can contribute. Campbell is ultra athletic and with the addition of Vernon great back court depth

I think that so far this class has come together about as well as we could have asked for given the situation the coaching staff was looking at after the season ended. We got two guards, one a true point guard and the other a combo guard that looks capable of playing the point in addition to some athleticism, that are probably the best high school guards we could have hoped for that were still available this time of the year. The only way this off season probably could have gone better would have been if Cunningham had chosen us over Louisville. I like that we at least did what we could to address the point guard situation we found ourselves in. It's up to WT now to develop these guys and get them ready to compete at the P12 level.

Seeing as you are the one poster on the board I feel misses the mark most widely, most often, I’m starting to get a good feeling about this recruit.

Has anyone seen what kind of numbers Vernon put up this season? And other seasons? (points, assists, steals, turnovers, etc)
I'll be honest, I like to see recruits who put up a lot of points (and other good stats) in high school. It's fair to wonder about a recruit like Vernon when only Northern Arizona recruited him and most recruiting sites haven't even heard of him makes wonder about the guy.
On the other hand, maybe we got a Steve Nash on our hands...

Couple that with how the last two PGs turned out it is probably a good idea to just see what happens when the season rolls around. Of course recruits are just that until... signed... and actually contribute and become "players" at this level. Nothing to really "see" until then. But, happy for the kid(s), signing is a huge dream come true for them. Now the hard part begins...
