2 throws into LF last 2 games. He doesn't look comfortable there. He makes the fielding plays because he is athletic. hope he doesn't have Steve sax syndrome  discus |

Doubt if he’s got serious case of the yips - he’s too good of an athlete, and too squared away for that.
I wouldn’t doubt though that his throwing arm won’t be back to 100% until next season. Either through rest or even minor surgery (that’s pure speculation).
Overall he seems to have been a better throwing catcher as a Freshman, than he is this season.

No. We have been a better team with Adley at first, Claunch catching and Gretler at third than with Adley catching, Gretler at first and Armstrong at third.

I some 't think you can say it's a failure because with the frequency he's been playing first base and the obvious difficulty he's having throwing there (and to some extent from behind the pate), I suspect he's favoring some form of injury. We're seeing throws we didn't often see last year.

I some 't think you can say it's a failure because with the frequency he's been playing first base and the obvious difficulty he's having throwing there (and to some extent from behind the pate), I suspect he's favoring some form of injury. We're seeing throws we didn't often see last year. maybe 9er had Adley working out at QB. Threw out his arm as James was running routes in practice. Who was the QB in about '98 that actually did that. We were down on QB depth and he took all the throws. Shane something. Might have been '99 with Saint Dennis (LOL) I do like Gretler at 3B a lot. So hate to swap him over to 1B. Hate to put Adley at DH, but if you are going to put a defensive team on the field I have to question him at 1st. (now watch him light it up the weekend!) Opponents have noticed our catching situ. WSU was running every chance they got. And Horton's band of HBP ran a couple times too. |

We're seeing throws we didn't often see last year. No question Adley's suffering from some sort of nagging shoulder injury this year (partial labrum tear??). FWIW, I'd actually rather see him DHing rather than C/1B for the rest of the season. His arm's bad enough that he can't make necessary throws from either position and it's not worth the risk of a more serious injury by letting him throw before he's really recovered. DH him now, let him come back strong at C next year. |

I'd rather have him at first - assuming that there isn't much that he can hurt right now, and I really think the coaches would have him DH if there were a chance at more severe problems. He is a ++ defender/receiver at first, and a couple of throwing errors over the rest of the season is something I will accept given that he is rock solid at the bag.

The question of DH/1B is, how is Tyler Malone with the glove at first? But Adley behind the plate is done, way too many overthrows to second. And as long as Claunch finds ways to get on base in the nine hole, he can catch as long as he wants.

The QB who blew his arm out throwing to James was Cody Vaz. |

Adleys arm isn’t right. Hasn’t been all year. ASU took advantage of him a couple times....
he’s better at 1st for now with Claunch catching.
Next year ?.... if Adley heals up I’d still keep him at first. Claunch is a player and we need him on field.
