Team has lost seven in a row. Albeit six of those losses are to two teams ranked in the top ten.
We must win two at Utah this weekend to even be considered for the tournament.
Pitching this last weekend was good enough to win at least one game.
All year against the top teams we have struggled greatly coming up with clutch hits.
Berg finally moved Senior SS McKenna Arriola to 2nd after two seasons of committing enough errors for six seasons for the average SS.
I still wonder if Coach Berg embodies the Magic Johnson effect; being a great player and unable to be a coach that brings the individual abilities out of each player, opting for the idea that players should do it like she did it.
As a softball fan with the same passion that many on this board have for basketball it's very frustrating to watch girls who have ample talent flounder.

I do not share your passion for softball. The athletes have clearly outgrown the field, which is the same size as a Little League diamond used by 11-year-old kids. The bases should be 65 or 70 feet apart, the mound moved back 2-3 feet, and the fences moved back 20-30 feet, at minimum. The substitution rules are a joke, slap hitting is an embarrassment, cheap home runs abound, and the pitcher is far too dominant. As far as Arriola goes, yes, getting her away from shortstop was a move long-overdue. HOWEVER, in regards to Berg's coaching, have we not been to the NCAA tournament in three of the past four years? That demonstrates more than an average level of coaching ability.

From what I gather listening to the broadcasters I don't think they'll change anything, especially if suggested by men. As far as Berg is concerned only winning 7-9 conference games a year is disappointing. And I also see hitters go down in average from year to year. And finally, I've never heard Berg say she needs to do a better job. Someone else may have but I haven't.

Fair enough.
And you are entirely correct. The ol' girl network will never agree with any dimension changes suggested by males, even though they would enhance the game and really let the athletes shine. Like I said, my kids played on bigger fields as 10-year-old Little Leaguers.

Well, we seem to have gone into an end-of-season swoon or slump or something....I was encouraged early (and even mid) season into thinking we were headed for the post-season for sure. Now we are going to be challenged to get into the post season, since we have whittled the margin for error down to nothing (well, we have to win 2 of the last 3).
Good news - it's Utah, last in the Pac, looks like the best opponent to be hoping to take the series from or sweep. Bad news - it's at their house, and our aforementioned slump....
Let's hope for a sweep! Go Beavers!

Even five feet down the baselines and three feet behind today’s rubber. Move the damn fences out 15, 20 feet. They’ll all adjust.
