I loved the way he played, competed and led when he played for the Beavs. He even came back for his senior year because of his devotion to our program, despite being drafted pretty high after his junior year. Just a great all-timer in Beaver baseball.
I noted that he got off to a great start pitching for the Tigers, and baseball reporters in Motown and beyond are really excited about his future.
What really impressed me was a video I saw of Matt and his wife tonight at a fundraiser for Remember Nhu, an awesome organization dedicated to ending child sex trafficking around the world through prevention. 1.2 million children each year are sold into sex trafficking...ugly, ugly stuff. The Boyds are heavily committed to this organization, sponsoring a girl in Thailand, and have gone there multiple times to visit her. He was so passionate as he spoke in the video. That guy is a winner in every sense!
