The closer to Gill she gets, the taller Carol stands.

The closer to Gill she gets, the taller Carol stands. Carol Menken used to be 6'4.5" but at age 60 I'll wager you Carol Menken-Schaudt has shrunk. Probably 6'3 by now. "Do you know how tall you are? Many people, especially older ones, think they’re taller than they really are. Sometimes it’s wishful thinking, but often it’s lack of awareness of the shrinkage that almost always comes with aging. In a French study, for instance, researchers measured 8,600 women over 60 and found that they overestimated their height by an inch, on average, and had lost about 2 inches from their tallest recalled height."

Carol, totally owning her 100th percentile height, may be in heels or pumps.

Carol is also slightly closer to the camera. The closer to the camera the taller the person a appears. Maria could also be leaning with one leg bent. In respect to losing height as we get older, I believe some people lose more than others. I have noticed my brother in law has really shrunk in comparison to me. I know I have only lost one inch but he has lost significantly more. Perhaps the inches we lose in height seem just roll down to the ends of our feet, since they get bigger. Maybe our heals just gradually move up higher on our legs.

I’m 6’4” and she is still taller than me.
