Opposing teams actually have a lower batting average against Fehmel than Heimlich. Fehmel's WHIP is lower than Heimlich's, as well. Further, Fehmel has allowed fewer runs, earned runs, walks, WPs, and HBPs than Heimlich. Fehmel also has a lower WHIP than Gambrell with fewer walks, WPs, and HBPs. I understand the stats, but my eyes tell me he has been hit quite hard lately. Pop ups and crushed line drives can both be outs on paper, but one looks a lot better than the other. Confirmation bias rears its ugly head.

Confirmation bias rears its ugly head. Really? You don't think Fehmel was getting hit hard vs Missouri State before the game rained out? He got lit up vs Utah. He had a good game against Arizona, but even some of those balls were smashed, just right at guys. I have no problem with Fehmel, and when he is on, he is good, like he was last night. When he isn't, he is 87 mph in the middle of the plate with no movement and he gets hit hard. You can call that confirmation bias if you want, but I just call it the truth.

I’m in agreement, Kwan really started the season on fire, crushing the ball just right at the defenders. Welcome to baseball where one hit on the head is an out and one off the handle is a base hit. I wonder which wins games?
