Second string JC guard with interest from Wyoming. Not sure this will get us over the hump.

He shot 18% on 3's and 48% at the line, 8.6 PPG, 5.1 APG. So shooting-wise, Banks is basically Steph Curry by comparison. So 1) I feel slightly better, like 4% better. 2) Going out on a limb saying Banks shooting a 3 won't be frightening to witness like it was with RS. 3) We really DID offer a scholarship to a JC PG who shot 18% on 3s and less than 50% at the line. That really did happen.

I'm just a caveman, but would some glasses keep this from happening in the future? Who do we need to talk to to make this happen?

I have heard the saying that "the best thing about freshmen is they become sophmores....." Similarly, we have had players where the best thing about them is that they graduated out of the program :-).
Bagging (unfairly) on players aside, I was astounded when we recruited and signed Ronnie, and his play confirmed his stats, unfortunately. One election time saying stuck with me in that regard: "Hope is not a strategy, and change is not a destination".
The coach is supposed to put players in a position to succeed. Hoping that a 18% 3point shooting guard who can only muster 48% at the charity stripe is going to change is not a winning strategy. And it didn't work.....
That is on the coach. I sure hope he has a strategy, and we see change for the better, but I am not optimistic at this point.
Go Beavers!

I partially agree, but what was the alternative? One of the walk-on's from three years ago? I don't believe it cost us anything, meaning we didn't offer someone else because of Stacy's scholarship. And I'm sure there was a potential upside - besides tough defense that perhaps there was a chance his stroke got better.

There was none, Stacy was the best player he could get to fill that scholly. That's was and still is the issue. 😑

Let's remember that D. Bruce announced his transfer in mid to late April that year. Not sure if at that time WT also knew that Duvivier wasn't going to play in the 2016-17 season. And WT had already signed a point guard for that class (yeah, I know that didn't work out to well), so I doubt very much he was recruiting any other PGs for that season. Yes, would have been nice to find a better player than Stacy, but he had to hustle to find someone at a position that all of a sudden become a need.

Yes, would have been nice to find a better player than Stacy, but he had to hustle to find someone at a position that all of a sudden become a need. Agree, and Stacy did get a bit better, in all fairness. And no one can dispute that he was exerting himself out there. The real issue is NOW - we have known for some (fairly large) number of months that PG is a concern...... Let's hope WT is not headed for another "late season, necessity driven, shot in the dark, hope for the best" pickup with Banks and he has a larger portfolio of candidates. Coach WT actually is starting to vaguely feel like our ex-football coach CGA sometimes.......they say all the right things, seem to even be fairly knowledgeable coaches, obviously care about their kids, but somehow it doesn't translate into on-field success. Either the coaching isn't sticking, or players aren't feeling like they are being put in positions to succeed and are tuning out, or.....leaving. There also seems to be a bit of playing favorites going on with various players and the "leash" they have (or didn't have, in the case of CGA). Or some talent evaluation shortfalls. I am not happy that I am finding resonance between these two coaches, because I really want WT to succeed and MBB to be a thing for me again, but at the end of the day I just thank the stars WBB is more than "scratching the itch" by way of hoops right now. If that is the case for too many Beaver fans, however, then it becomes an AD/financial conversation...... Go Beavers!
