Even so, it's not likely a full strength Madrigal we will see. Do we expect all the timing and confidence to be there? Not suggesting it but does this make it more likely Madrigal returns for another year of college ball in 2019?

No. Still a first-round draft pick. MLB looks long-term.

Is this sort of the "Apocalypse Now" thing (ok, anyone under 50 is probably not going to get that reference)?
I have never understood this school's practice of putting the status of an injured player as a "it's going to be X weeks till he is back", and it turns out to be X months - it's to the point that when they say "two weeks", I automatically double that and add two more weeks just for good measure. Happens over and over again.

Ugh, we're going to be teased the entire season, and when he does return in May, he'll only bunt because he won't be 100%

I think he’ll be back for Civil War series...... I don’t think he’ll be same guy.... no. He’ll be guy we saw last year end of year after he got dinged up in last years civil war series. Hits....bunts.... sacrifices..... not power. I expect he’ll be good at 2nd. Just getting him back will be a lift. He will still be 1st round pick.... he isn’t coming back.
And no, unfortunately.... he does not pitch. We have what we have, and they gotta be better.

That is at least a 4 million dollar wrist for Nick so he had better not come back too soon. Don't want a Raz repeat even though Drew had medical clearance.
A healthy Madrigal does help the pitching. Andy Armstrong has been very good with the glove so that is not as big of deal. However, a pitcher who knows he is getting more run support doesn't have to try to be so fine. There is nothing worse for command than trying to be too fine. Hopefully, Andy swings the good bat and stays in the lineup so there is one less hole as well. Definitely a win-win.
