Win at least 2 of 3 there and get back on track for home vs hole!!
Luke will likely be on shorter rest going on Friday with the Friday doubleheader. One good thing about the double header is that the next week against hole is a Thur/Fri/Sat series so means only one guy "short rest" vs hole next week while hole is playing 3 night games Fri/Sat/Sun...so there is that.
First off, Missouri State is 22-7 (but just 6-3 in total vs Top 100 RPI teams) and sitting at 42 in RPI. 11-2 at home, but Oklahoma State only team <122 RPI or with winning record they have played at home and they lost that one game.
Missouri State usually has a more fierce hitting lineup but it's down a bit this year. That said, Jeremy Eierman (their 2 hitter) is thought to be one of, if not THE, best hitting SS in all of college baseball. Hitting .299 this year with 11 2B, 5 HR and 16 steals on 17 attempts. Team has similar "power" as Beavs with similar extra base hits and HR's. They strikeout at almost a 2 to 1 clip to their walks though. Only one guy >.300, hitting at .305 (their 3 hitter) and only 5 guys >.250.....
Pitching though looks like a different story, especially for the Friday doubleheader as their top two pitchers look solid with Dylan Coleman at 2.77 ERA, .175 BAA, 55.1 IP, 63 K and Ty Buckner at 2.50 ERA, .203 BAA, but just 39.2 IP likely because of 25 BB in those innings, so Beavs need to be patient vs Buckner. They have a bunch of other guys that have started other times, but Logan Wiley just got the last Sunday start, 4.12 ERA in 14 games (4 starts) and 39.1 IP, .258 BAA and 40 K. Don't look like they have a closer but a bunch of relievers with a decent number of outings and IP and sub 3.50 ERA....
Will be interesting what Beavs can do. Play clean and keep bases clear for Eierman and should be able to keep scores low....need to be patient manufacture a few runs.
Come on Beavs, you can do this! BOUNCE BACK!!!!!!
