Finished on the beam and had a couple falls. LSU and Nebraska advance. We finish behind Maryland, NC State and George Washington.
LSU: 197.675 NEB: 197.525 NCS: 196.050 UM: 195.850 GWU: 195.425 OSU: 194.975
Have to go back to their first competition of the year to find a lower score: 194.850 against Pittsburgh.

Geez what happened? Did they all choose the fish for the in-flight meal?

They picked the worst possible time to have their second-worst score this season but it was still a great season for a bunch of kids without a lot of college experience. The future is bright for this team

Wow, Beam just killed us. Had to count a 9.575, a 9.275 and a 9.200

Top 2 teams from each Regionals go to Nationals. We opened with a bye (4 teams at a time but 6 teams at the site) then floor, vault, bye, bars & beam. Nebraska was seeded higher and had their bye second so we were chasing them all day. Nebraska had perhaps their best meet of the year almost beating #2 LSU while we did okay/solid/not spectacular in the first 3 rotations. We were a half-point behind Nebraska going into the beam. Nebraska continued to nail their final rotation, and I think we realized it wasn't our day so we lost our concentration. Tough way to finish a good season - especially for such a young team. Next year we host the regionals (assuming the format rework does not take it away). The home crowd and another year of seasoning should bring a better outcome.
GO BEAVS!

Format rework? www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/women-s-gymnastics-modify-championship-modelIt appears they want to keep 36 teams in the dance, but a 2 team play-in the night is dumb IMO. Competing 3 straight nights would be very difficult for the athletes. Just drop the play-in and have 4 sites with 8 teams each. The 2019 women's gymnastics regionals are April 4-6, up against the basketball final fours.
