Ben's game was limited but he was always going to contribute with rugged d and some tough defense/ fouls. Replaceable in normal circumstances but is there any incoming talent ready to jump in consistently for a few hustle minutes in the paint?

I wish him the best. Injuries really took their toll on him during his time at OSU. With the 3 bigs coming in, it isn't all that much of a surprise. It's the way of the college basketball world these days. According to Verbal Commits website, 376 players so far have announced they are transferring (and I don't think that number includes Kone).

Seems like with Drew moving on, and the guys coming in with injury issues and being freshman bigs, there is a pretty obvious and probably large role for Ben next year... So seems like an odd transfer to me... I know, I know, injuries and all that, but we heard rumblings from Kone for a while about being dissatisfied with his role... so now that he is poised to take a much bigger role... he is transferring?
Oh well, yet another highly rated/recruited athlete that fizzled to not much at OSU and transfers.... :/

Most never improve, because.....in my opinion.......they aren't "coached up." It's an important distinction between good, mediocre, and bad programs.

He was injured to some degree for pretty much the whole time he was here. I'm not sure he has ever fully recovered from his HS injury.

I feel bad for him in terms of the injuries. He shouldn’t have played his freshman year at all and made sure that he was 100% before coming back. I have heard that this was a foregone conclusion for weeks, and that his attitude on and off the court were not helpful for our program either. It seems that his self-assessment and that of the coaches were pretty far apart. I hope he is happy and can stay healthy wherever he goes.

I wasn’t aware of off and on court attitude issues.

I wasn’t aware of off and on court attitude issues. Not legal issues or anything, just attitude issues. Ben and the Beavs’ was a mutually unholy alliance this past season.

Too bad. Frustrating. I KNOW transferring is a “norm” these days. I just wish we saw a player live up to their potential here. Maybe I’m too critical.

I would say Eubanks did, especially for a guy with such a limited basketball background. I would say Gary Payton II did, two-time Pac-12 all-star and Defensive POY as a senior. I would say Tres Tinkle is, he was a first-team Pac-12 all-star. I would say Stevie Thompson Jr. is, especially having played out of position for two seasons. Ethan had a fine freshman year. Others may disagree.

Ding ding ding.... yes Henry you are correct. Every program has transfers now. It's the norm. I appreciate everything Kone brought to the program & the university. I'm intrigued by the scholarship spot

How soon we forget, Kone was an average 3 star recruit coming out of high school. He was a solid pick up, but not one of the higher ranked recruits under Tinkle. Sad to see him go. This coming year was a big opportunity for him. Now the coaching staff has an opportunity to find a better fit.

This coming year was a big opportunity for him. Now the coaching staff has an opportunity to find a better fit. That 3 star ranking was slightly surprising, given that he was the Bay Area POY (I believe) as a junior and had good size. That horrible injury that derailed his senior season was really a blow, but he had game. His potential impact here just never materialized. In fairness to the kid, the frustration of not being able to perform at the level he expected, combined with a lack of playing time and a lack of any real success as a team during his stay likely played a big part in the attitude that people around the program saw this year.
