His recruiting coach went to Fresno. Looks like he can't go to Fresno however based on the terms of his LOI release. Should be interesting to see where he ends up, I was told that WT is recruiting him hard. He doesn't look like much in terms of star rating but if two good programs such as SDSU and Nevada wanted him there must be something there.

Nice work WT, now close the deal!

Reading between the lines of Tinkles comment above it looks like the plan is to get BOTH Christen Cunningham (pronounced "Kristen"?) AND Jordan Campbell... ie the one and done experienced guy and the youngin to learn under that guy.
Neither guy are knock your socks off, 5 star types, but really why would we expect that. Both would be significant upgrades from any of the point guards we have had since Gary Payton 2 (not a knock on the Thompson bros, they just aren't point guards), and I would be pleased as punch to get one, and legitimately excited if we got both.
Cunningham in particular seems to have that key PG mindset, leader, winner, facilitator, etc. Don't look at the individual stats (although those aren't bad either, especially assists, and ignore his senior year he was sick), look at the record for the team with him (20 wins his junior year) and without (10 wins his senior year when he got sick and received a medical hardship redshirt).
Jordan Campbell is a 2 or 3 star depending on service, so wouldn't be a huge get, but at least he is an actual PG and not a SG or CG we are trying to cram into the PG role... Looks like he scored well in HS, I didn't find any assist number for him...
Regardless, GO TINKLE, get use a real point guard PLEASE!

According to Cunningham, Tinkle referred to him as "the missing link". So.. to summarize, our coach thinks a grad transfer from Samford is the key to our success. Cunningham would be a good get. The article I read about his visit closed with a quote from him about wanting to go to a team that has a good chance of going to the tourney. In that regard, Ohio St. would likely be a better option for him. I believe they bring back their PG (probably should know this since I live in Columbus), but they're second and third leading assist guys have graduated.
Most recruiting sites list Campbell as a SG, so it might come down to does he want to play the point. On the tape I saw of him, looks to be a CG, but I think he could play the point.
Article in which WT talked about recruiting indicated he'd like to take 2 guards (with at least one of them a point). Since we haven't heard much about the JC PGs he was recruiting, I agree he'd probably take both.

2 or 3 star? Watch Campbell's film and decide.....kid has game, distributes, can get to the hole and a nice left handed jumper with range. I could see this kid with Hollins, Ethan, Zach a couple years out with the recruited bigs being a nice unit. First things first though Tinkle needs to close the deal.

Close... and WT can't afford to have any more "misses". Whomever signs needs to turn out to be a player. Doesn't have to be a huge offensive contributor, but needs to be able to score to keep the D honest and has to be a Pac12 caliber defender/distributor. This year "missing link" might mean more than what's on the surface... WT needs a "win" in recruiting a PG.

Yup, especially when your recruiting classes only get to be a few ballplayers at most a miss really REALLY sucks... That's why JaQuori McLaughlin being a bust (for whatever reason, and whether others saw it coming all along, doesn't matter now) was such a big blow. Felt like a big win, felt like we had the pg of the future and poof, he gone, and now we are in panic/scramble mode... Football gets 20 recruits a year, the sheer volume helps cover the wash outs. Basketball is a much more precarious tight rope to walk.

It's not like we haven't seen our own lowly grad transfers go on to bigger better schools and make a big difference to them (some even have national championship rings to show for it...) So, his original school being Samford doesn't bother me that much... It's high time WE are on the positive end of a grad transfer! And don't make me breakout all the great basketball player to be mis scouted and went to small school just to have great careers

I certainly wasn't trying to impugn him as a 2 or 3 star, just regurgitating what the recruiting services had him at. I hope WT gets him signed!

Like the tape on this guy I saw. Has 3-point range but can play inside some too. Definitely looks like the classic case of a late bloomer. They compare him to Hollins in the article, and while they have some things in common in their games he isn't quite at the level of Hollins. But I could see him being able to contribute some next year. With Hollins, this year's recruit Washington, and him the Beavs would have some guys who seem to have the flexibility to play inside and out.
