WOE! Domers win it with a TOUGH, CONTESTED three! MSU screwed the pooch when they didn't foul her AS SOON as she touched it. Note**** First time ND has won the NC in SEVENTEEN years. WITH ALL the advantages ($$$$$$$$) they have.... Winning a title is HARD.

Easter, Catholic school, 17 years to the day... on two last second shots... with more ACL tears than losses... weird stuff... COY stuff

And we were leading ND with 3 minutes to go in the 4th in November.
I don't think I have ever seen someone win consecutive semi/final games on last second shots like this, some of the best competition in any sport, great win by ND.
Not a big ND fan but I was impressed with their tough (not rough) play when I saw them play OSU in person.

Two of their best were 7-30, including Ms Incredible going 5-18. Even with all the injuries they played do solid with basically 5 players. Funny that's the game that Taylor basically owned the court.... was our best offensive player. Then never could get much going after that.

ND had seven players with at least 16 minutes in our game, it was not a five-women team. Lili Thompson, who was hurt later, played 29 minutes. Mikayla Vaughn, who was also hurt later, played 16. We played a deeper ND team than anyone in the NCAA tournament. Maybe not better, that's impossible to determine, but definitely deeper.

The NCAA's are very much about Match ups and Timing. Even with talent it takes some luck to make it through the teams you can beat while avoiding those that probably have a better shot to beat you. Oregon St was a far better team at the end of the season as well. They would have been a touch match up for ND.
Most other World Championships are not single elimination either.

Oh... a full strength OSU lost to a ND team devastated by injuries, at home... a ND team, who by the way, traveled across the country! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is always entertaining to watch and read baseba1111 take on the entire Benny's House message board. He is a solid debater whose opinions are typically supportable by the facts. What I remember about the Notre Dame team that beat the Beavs 72-67 on November 19, 2017 is that the visiting team actually had two players (Lili Thompson who started & Mikayla Vaughan who was in their top 7 rotation) competing that morning (11 am tipoff) who later tore their ACLs and were lost for the season. [Two other Notre Dame players had been lost for the season via torn ACLs prior to that game.] Thompson scored 9 points and had four assists in the OSU game, while Vaughan scored 8 points, grabbed 7 boards, and looked very good doing so. The subsequent injuries to both Thompson and Vaughan make the Notre Dame story an even more improbable one as they pursued and captured this season's national title in dramatic fashion this past weekend. Also of note from that November 19 game is that it was both teams' third game of the season, Taya Corosdale came off the bench for the Beavs, and Aleah Goodman did not play in the game. The Beavs led by eight points at the half and had an 11-point lead in the third quarter before ND rallied for the win. Arike Ogunbowale struggled from the field (5/18), but was money in the fourth quarter against the Beavs when it counted most. Sounds similar to what she did against Mississippi State in the championship game. Jackie Young had a breakout game against the Beavs with 21 points and 8 boards. osubeavers.com/documents/2017/11/19//11_19_17_OSU_vs_Notre_Dame_Box_Score.pdfosubeavers.com/news/2017/11/19/womens-basketball-beaver-battle-no-5-notre-dame-down-to-the-wire.aspx?path=wbball
