Can Madrigal pitch?
Maybe he could pitch Sat and Sunday. His rest day can br Fri when Luke pitches. He'll play 2b then

Better break out the slump buster's. Not sure if they are allowed in Utah though.
Seriously, our bullpen has issues right now. Usually when you outhit your opponent and score seven runs, you win. Not tonight.
I am witholding judgement, but I am worried. Our season is just starting to get difficult. We are flunking the early part of this test.

Pitching, Pitching, Pitching. Doesn't take much to figure out the problem. Looks like we hit and score this year or go home. First time in years we have been in this boat.

Wow, so we don't have the number 1 pitching staff in the nation like we did last year - panic sets in at 20-3. As the 2007 team demonstrated, it's a lot better to be hot at the end of the season than 23 games in.

Pretty level headed observations, some admission to over estimating, maybe a harsh criticism... but, not a word about season is over, etc.

Frankly, it's a good time to not be peaking. Our NC runs had 1 team that survived throughout, another that peaked late. Meanwhile, or dominant regular season teams did not finish #1. Hopefully our struggles now help keep us pushing.

Hopefully our struggles now help keep us pushing. Coming off of 56-6 and losing basically our Sunday guy, there’s every reason to expect that we will again be a national title contender. Unfortunately, we lost the best two-way position player in the country for the better part of 2 months. He won’t solve the underwhelming pitching but his presence in the lineup and the dugout will be enormous. We couldn’t anticipate so many capable arms being so inconsistent. Hopefully the pitching corps will get it figured out. The formula is to win each series, be it by sweep or 2-1. Makes me appreciate how reliable Jake was at the end of the weekends. Luke was lights out on Friday, and although Fehmel has been up and down forever, he had a lot less pressure on Saturdays knowing his win probably meant a sweep.

Frankly, it's a good time to not be peaking. Our NC runs had 1 team that survived throughout, another that peaked late. Meanwhile, or dominant regular season teams did not finish #1. Hopefully our struggles now help keep us pushing. To illustrate, the best 23-game starts since 1947 (first year of the College World Series): 22-1 1962 (lost in District 8 Championship, equivalent of a Super Regional to Santa Clara) and 2017 (lost in Semifinal to LSU)21-2 2013 (lost in Semifinal to Mississippi State)20-3 2007 (National Champions) and 2018 (?) 19-4 1951 (lost in District 8 Championship, equivalent of a Super Regional to USC), 1959 (finished 2-3 to finish fourth in the North), 1964 (finished 6-7 to finish third in the North), 1985 (0-2 at West I Regional at Sunken Diamond, finishing in a 10-way tie for 29th in the 1985 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament), 2005 (0-2 in College World Series), and 2014 (lost Corvallis Regional Championship Game) 18-5 1952 (0-2 in College World Series), 1960 (finished second in the North), 1968 (went 6-8 down the stretch to finish in seventh place in a round robin Pac-8), 2011 (lost Nashville Super Regional), and 2015 (lost the Dallas Regional) 17-5-1 1975 (lost the coin flip and the North Championship Game to Washington State) 17-6 1961 (went 5-6 down the stretch to finish second in the North), 1980 (went 16-8 down the stretch to finish second in the North), 1997 (went 21-6 down the stretch to finish second in the North), 2009 (lost the Fort Worth Regional), 2010 (lost the Gainesville Regional), and 2016 (went 18-13 down the stretch and were unfairly kept out of the Tournament by Meggs' horsetrading) 16-6-1 1996 (went 16-10 down the stretch to finish second in the North) and 1997 (went 22-6 down the stretch to finish second in the North) 16-7 1963 (lost in District 8 Championship, equivalent of a Super Regional to USC), 1987 (went 0-2 in the North Tournament), 1994 (won the North but were passed over for a berth in favor of Washington for an unknown reason), 2004 (went 15-16 down the stretch to finish sixth in the Pac-10), and 2006 (National Champions)
In 2006, Oregon State started out ice cold. At this time in 2006, the Beavers were 16-8, coming off a six-run loss to San Francisco. Oregon State had dropped road series to both Pepperdine and USC with only Friday wins behind Buck's arm to stave off sweeps. Casey quizzically started Maxwell over Nickerson in the Saturday game against New Mexico on March 11 despite snow in the forecast. Maxwell picked up the loss and the Sunday game snowed out. After the 16-8 start, Oregon State went 23-6 down the stretch, only dropping a road series to second-place Arizona State, to win the Pac-10 and earn a Regional Berth. 2006 was the first time since the creation of National Seeds that the Pac-10 was shut out of National Seeds. Stanford, which finished sixth in the Pac-10 was given a berth in the Austin Regional. (Fourth-place Arizona and fifth-place USC had losing records.) Texas crumbled and Stanford beat NC State a combined 24-9 to set up a Corvallis Super Regional, which Oregon State swept by a combined score of 19-3 (first game nail-biter and second game blowout).
In 2007, Oregon State started on fire. At this time in 2007, the Beavers were 23-3, coming off of a three-game sweep of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Arizona then swept Oregon State in Tucson to drop the Beavers down to 23-6. The Beavers responded to beat USC, California, UNLV, and Stanford on consecutive weekends and Portland in two mid-week games, going 11-3 to post a 34-9 record as April gave way to May. In an ugly start to the month, Oregon State went 2-7 against Washington, Washington State, and Arizona State with six of those games in Corvallis. The Beavers rebounded with a do-or-die series win against UCLA in Jackie Robinson Stadium but could not sweep the Bruins. The top three teams in the Pac-10 all received invites. Fifth-place Washington was technically ineligible, because the Huskies' RPI was too low. Sixth-place Washington State only had 28 wins. To my knowledge, the Committee has never given a berth to an at large team with so few wins. That left fourth-place California and seventh-place Oregon State. The Beavers had a better RPI and a series win against the Bears. California had two more conference wins. The Committee gave the nod to Oregon State. The Beavers stumbled once in Virginia but were helped by a hurricane rolling through to give themselves an extra day of rest to defeat Rutgers and Virginia twice. Michigan upset top-seed Vanderbilt, the first and only time that a #1 overall seed would falter in their own Regional until 2014. However, the Wolverines could not host, because of construction in Ann Arbor. That set up a third consecutive Corvallis Super Regional, which Oregon State swept by a combined score of 9-2 (first game nail-biter and second game blowout).
2018 is setting a good pace, so far. Hopefully, they go 26-7 (or better) down the stretch like the 2006 team did. Boyds World is saying that Oregon State needs to go 30-3 to be a top 8 team in RPI.

we stink back to back p12 losses to teams we should dominate. Lets hope this is our 'funk' time and turn it around soon Yet to lose a series. No funk. Lose two series’s then a concern.

Luke gets chased tonight = worry time. Short of that I’m planning on enjoying some fine baseball from now until sometime in June. Most of it with Nick in the lineup.

Coach Casey made the posters look kind in pregame talk. He was obviously pissed.
