I did not realize ProspectsNation.com thought so highly of Jasmine Simmons: She is currently the #1 ranked guard and the 7th ranked prospect on their site. Now, I don't know if that is among international candidates or all of the class of 2018. I sure hope they are right - for reference, I found that they had also rated Marie Gulich pretty high in 2014 (#13 rank). If Jasmine can contribute at the level Marie has, I think we will all be very happy. I did not find anything on the site to substantiate the rankings, but perhaps you have to pay to get that information. Go Beavers!

You can adjust the sort on the overall rankings page to include international players. This messes up their ranking system so you have to count to figure out where players are. The bad news is they put AA at 59th overall and 12th post. The good news is that Jasmine is the 13th overall player and 2nd ranked off guard.

I wouldn't worry that much about how Prospect Nation ranked AA. They are a ranking service that runs evaluation camps and if you attend your ranking goes up. If you do not attend one of their camps than your ranking is down. It's part of what they use to promote their camps. Still the fact that they had Simmons ranked high is worth quite a bit. Guards tend to do better in those camps than posts and wings because players tend to play to show off themselves rather than their teammates. It is not really a true game setting.

Premier basketball has Jasmine ranked on their global first team. She's going to be another great addition. She has a great all around game. I'm not sure when she will get to see a lot of playing time with all the talented wings and guards already on the team, but I'm really looking forward to seeing her on the court. premierbasketballreport.com/news/2018-pbr-all-global-teams

Fortunately she signed a 3 year PRO contract rather than choose Oregon (another option).

Sounds like someone might give a redshirt year to free things up a bit. I am just hoping that AA can come in and play right away at the next level. We will have the experience to not be quite so reliant on the center, but Marie was such a special player with so many intangibles that she was more than just an All American center. Here's to AA as an AA by her soph season!

Ezi Magbegor visited UCLA and UConn a few weeks back. I really didn't want to see her land at UCLA. AA has great physical skills and we all have high hopes for her future. She has a lot to learn though. Hopefully she will be on the fast track, and can help sooner rather than later. If will be a lot different going into next season without a Ruth or Marie in the Center.

Gotta love those stats! Can't complain too much with 70% shooting percentage and 80% from the line. Game attendance 114. She might see a slightly larger crowd in Gill

What I really like about Jasmine's stats was that she was a game-high +32 in +/- differential in a 24-point win. When she was on the floor, her team was at its best. When she was off the floor, her team was outscored.
While the opponent in that game may not have been very competitive, Jasmine's ability to stuff the staff sheet indicates that she may be a versatile player who can potentially find a role in the '18-'19 Beavers rotation earlier rather than later.

I looks to me like Jasmine's raw athletic skills (speed, passing, vertical, ball-handling, excluding shooting) are superior to the skills of any of our other players next year except Destiny. She just needs to learn the plays to where they're second nature for her and she'll be a potential starter. Her basketball IQ also has to be very high given all of her high-level experience. I don't count her out of the competition for a starting spot at some point this year or next.

I watched some of Jasmine's video's as well. I think Scott will have to make some "catch 22" decisions in respect to the line up next season. I personally think each prospective starter brings their own unique skill set and value to the team. I think it will all depend on which combination the coach thinks provides the best blend of talent.

Hard to say until we see her on the court with other OSU players, as well, other collegiate players.
