In terms of predictability. The committee went 4 for 4 on their one seeds. In the men’s having 2 #1s get to the Final Four is about as good as they can do.
The best programs in the women’s game are just that much better when it comes down to it, than anyone else. I feel like all 4 teams in the Final 4 are double digits better than the next wave, not just because they won their regionals by those margins either. UConn is always the class of the field, even when someone gets fortunate enough to shock them once every 75-100 games, but I believe that Notre Dame, Louisville and Mississippi St. are talented enough to win against them on an off night for the Huskies. The problem for the field this year is that MSU upset them last year, so they’re on a mission again.
Looking at the PAC 12, our top 4 teams availed themselves very well. All of them had tremendous years with significant wins and respectable showings against the best. Although I have no love for the ducks, they had an awesome year and really pushed ND tonight. They will be very tough to deal with for as long as SI is there, and probably beyond. I think that UCLA loses Canada and their best big (not sure on her), but they always have talent. Stanford is Stanford - great school, fantastic coach, and great tradition.
As for the Beavs, we had a wonderful year. The wins over Tennessee and Baylor were big time, and beating oregon, UCLA and nearly Notre Dame were major. Marie will be a huge loss, so others will have to step up inside, but we gain Destiny at the point and welcome the top-rated class in the conference, and Rueck is money.
It was a great year for our conference. We may not have anyone who could beat UConn yet, but we have a couple of teams knocking on the door, and the gap between our best and the rest of the elite is getting razor thin.

I hope you are right about the "gap" but it sure seems like at the very top, it's always the same d--m group!

And that's likely to be the case until the WNBA pays enough to get ladies to leave early. The men's game would be similar if kids were staying at places like Kentucky for 4 years. This is pretty much the case for most college sports. Take wrestling for example - about a dozen teams have won the title in the entire 90 year history of the sport: www.ncaa.com/history/wrestling/d1 or Women's Gymnastics, with 6 champions in 35 years www.ncaa.com/history/gymnastics-women/ncMen's football, basketball and baseball have relatively good parity due to the pros plucking the elites, with football less so with the larger scholarship numbers and more restrictions on leaving early.

And as much as I am not a fan of tsdtr they are throwing lots a cash in the major sports to decrease the gap and can't say that I blame them.
It would be nice if college sports could have a draft, Haaa, but trying to equal the playing field will never happen because of the dollar and because you can't dictate where someone goes to school.
A few years ago I was so disgusted with the perennial football powers I wanted them to make an elite conference for just them and the rest of us can have our own bowl system like the old days. Still kinda feel that way.
