She's having fun out there. She has complete command of her game and complete confidence in her teammates (and they in her).
It's just a blast to watch.

I'm not sure I have ever seen someone's stock rise so much so fast as hers has this year. She had become an elite player and leader.

Mulkey basically said in her press conference that it was like OSU had an WNBA vetran on the floor, totally controlling the game on both ends. Rueck said that in his press conference that Marie is the enforcer of demanding excellence from within the team. Yea, Marie is going places.

[imho] Marie has become the best basketball player, male or female, to wear the Orange and Black in this era (21st Century). Her combination of poise, leadership, flat-out skills and desire, are simply off the charts. Her legacy will be the contributions she has made in shaping the mental outlook of next season's Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors....including DS. Watch out PAC-12! Watch out WNBA.

Personally I wouldn’t go quite that far. I’d still place her behind Jamie W and Sydney W. BUT she is still playing and the final chapter in her career is still being written. Speaking of Destiny, even though she hasn’t played a minute this season I have to think that our guards Mik, Kat, Aleah and Katie have benefited immensely from playing against her every day in practice. It may have been a small part of the reason the Beavs went back home between Knoxville and Lexington; so they could practice against DS scout team as I don’t think transfers like DS can travel w the team in the tournament.

Well I think they had Finals week last week too. So maybe just get everybody back into a familiar setting and hunker down for tests and practices But i did not see Destiny on the bench. But i only saw a few shots.

Good observation on the DS factor (re-travelling home)....not to mention final exam week. Jamie, Sydney and Marie are all very fine basketball talents. Time will tell on the comparison. I wouldn't be totally surprised if neither Jamie nor Sydney make it into a regular starting rotation in the WNBA. I believe that Marie will reach that status (as a '4' ?). I think that her skill set is so broad ....that, when combined with her mental toughness, that she'll be 'there'. Kim Mulkey is certainly a believer.

Marie just plays so much faster than most bigs. I could see her slotting in as a 4 at the next level.

I agree on all counts. I think that Jamie was the poster child for the ideal Rueck player in mix of talent, grit and character, and Syd followed with all of that and a little extra sauce. I am marveling at Marie’s development as a player, her confidence, poise and leadership. It’s so fun to see. I also feel that Destiny has made this team better and led before ever logging an official minute. There’s a reason she instantly felt "at home" here, and our future is so bright (and the present ain't bad either)!

Totally agree that we are witnessing a coming-out party of unprecedented proportions by Marie. If anyone has improved their WNBA draft stock more in the tournament, I want to know.... I also think Marie and Jamie elevated their game more in the post-season than any other recent WBB players (I am having trouble recalling a tournament game where Syd went off, but I will never forget the 2OT Stanford game at Maples), but Jamie with 38 against DePaul and Marie for the past several games (heck, the whole season) have really been a marvel to watch.
Hard to stack rank them or compare them - also agree that Marie could be a Beaver with a notable career in the WNBA.
Go Beavers!

First, according to Rueck they were home for finals and got most of them taken care of but I guess there will be a couple to do next week. Second, DS as a reshirt can't travel with the team, if she wanted to go she would have to pay her own way. Third, it's hard to compare guards with post players. That said Marie has done a phenomenal job of finding ways to keep the beavers in games. This team has far exceeded pre-season expectations and much of that is because of Marie's leadership. If she is not the best women's player to dress in the black and orange then she is definitely up there.

Can she stay and complete her masters for like another 2 yrs, please Interesting factoid: Marie will turn 24 on May 28th. I'm surprised she isn't playing for BYU. (wink) I wonder if Mulkey knew that when she made those comments about Marie playing like she is older.
