Great Eggers piece, as always. Good journalism is not dead, it just doesn't exist at one of the other Portland papers I have come to detest.....I digress.
Why do I get the feeling Mulkey was really saying "I hope we score 140 on these pesky #$*^%%^*#$#$ Beavers"?
I really enjoy the fact the WBB team has exhibited "staying power" in the Tournament over the SR era. MBB was fun to follow, but in all my years at OSU they were a "one and done" outfit.
There is something to be said for getting a week or two of postseason to reflect on how good your team is, how great a season they have had, how much growth the players have undergone.......all the while plotting your team's progression through your (otherwise busted) bracket.
Thank you Beavers!

Eggers did an amazing job of making Mulkey sound like a real human being, he deserves a Pulitzer prize for that!

Thank you Beavers! She probably was thinking just that, but she knows to be respectful of the Beavers - and well, it is a competitive sport!

I know that Mulkey is Lil Sweet's (LSU's ss) mom, but are we sure that she is not related to the ASU coach? They both have the "crazy" eyes.

Dammit, Eggers......I was perfectly content loathing Baylor’s coach. Now, I’m going to have to adapt to simply disliking her antics. Damn you!!

I think one could argue that Rueck is better. Rueck took over a dumpster fire of a team with four scholarship players and in his fourth year made it into the second round of the NCAAs. He did the same in his fifth year and for the three seasons since, he has made the Sweet 16 every year with one Final Four. Miller never had that kind of track record.

Two Final Fours for Slats. The way Scott has been going he will be in that rarefied air soon though.

Likely at least one more had not OSU been conference-less his last 5 years from 1960 through 1964 (includes 1963 Final Four team). Rueck's got a little way to go yet to match that.
