1st round just getting underway:
125: Bresser wins 5-4, advances to meet #8 seed Lizak in the 2nd round. No real major upsets at 125 so far.
157: Willits loses a heartbreaker 3-1 in OT vs #9 seed Colgan. Wrestled him tough.
197: Griego (#11 seed) gets upset by Traxler of Stanford. And it wasn't close. Ugh.
Hwt: Dhesi wins 6-1, faces #11 seed Hughes of Hofstra tonight.
Beavs end up 2-2 in 1st rd.

Darian Cruz is a professional stalling machine out on the mat. I sure hope he does not win it. He should have been called for stalling against Bresser. He also had 3 moving starts in the top position. The officials were very generous to his boring style. The officials were more than happy to allow Cruz to pretend he was doing something on top rather than call a stalemate. It was not a fun match to watch.

Agreed - not sure if it was because he was defending champ or what, but he sure had a ridiculously long leash. Hopefully Bresser can regroup and get this next one. He definitely deserves a spot on the podium and in the 2nd group of kids behind Suriano/Lee/Tomasello.

Never mind, he loses in the Consie Rd of 4. Still, it was a good tournament for him and a well deserved All American honor

Dhesi loses in his semi 4-2 to Coon of Michigan. Got the first round takedown but gave up 2 escapes and started the 3rd period up (his choice) and gave up a late takedown.
Strong performance but not enough in the end.

Dhesi won twice, pinned a Duke guy in the third-place match.
Bresser won, takes seventh.
Four entrants, two All-Americans. Had Griego performed, would have been an outstanding NCAAs.

That's awesome. I believe that's the highest individual finish for OSU in the Jim Zalesky era. Previous best under Zalesky - 4th place: Ty Watterson 2007 Clayton Jack 2012 Taylor Meeks 2013

On the strength of those two young men, OSU finishes in the top 25 - great job!

Congratulations to Dhesi and Bresser, but 21st or lower will never be great or good or satisfactory. Maybe a down year here or there, but consistently that level and lower is not good.
