Really here to watch the guys play, but Southridge has a great women’s team, and I wanted to see Cameron Brink play. She’s going to be a good one. What was fun was to learn that Mustafa Hoff from some of those strong Beav teams in the 80’s is an assistant coach for Southridge. He has two daughters who play for the ‘hawks, one a senior and one a freshman (Mia). Mia in particular looks like she’s gonna be good. Would be cool to see her follow her daddy to OSU. It’s always fun to remember blasts from the glory years in OSU hoops.

Glad to hear there were some D1 types in the 6A ranks... the 5A tourney was horrendous IMHO (apologies to any on here who have kids/grand kids playing). The 16 boys and girls team there were struggling to score 10-12/qtr and it wasn't because of good D. I do not keep track of recruiting/rankings etc, but can't imagine any of those teams fielding a D1 recruit. My memory must be fading as I thought you used to go see the 5A tourney and see good basketball with some potential recruits... it was sloppy, ugly, and disorganized basketball. It's the 6A tourney next year!

It's the 6A tourney next year! Your memory is not failing. Especially with Jefferson and Benson playing 5A ball for a while, there were some studs every year, and it seemed like even some of the other schools from smaller communities had some serious kids. For a while, some of the best girls talent was at that level as well with Lexi Bando and Willamette and Mercedes Russell and Springfield. We switched to the 6A tourney when Katie Mac’s group won it her senior year. More talent here for sure. In tonight’s boys’ finals, it’s all PIL with Jefferson playing Grant...for the 4th time this season. Jeff won all 3 previous. All WARS, by 1, 2 and 4 points. The PIL POY from Jeff is out with a hand injury., but there are several 6’9”ish guys who can play. This guys do not like each other at all!
