This is such a classic Fehmel start. Over the years my appreciation of his style has grown immensely. Beavs up 3-0 after 2.5 ip. Btw how about that Andy Armstrong with 2 strikes on him?

Felt like they should've pulled Bryce after the first run - once he loses it, it goes quick.

Felt like they should've pulled Bryce after the first run - once he loses it, it goes quick. I think by the third time through the line-up they had figured out his somewhat unconventional approach. Beautiful when it's working...but, not so much on that HR blast.

Beautiful when it's working...but, not so much on that HR blast. Went to the same spot three times in a row. Hit the spot, not a bad pitch. Better hitting. Was looking there and got it. And turned it around.

I like how Pearce has been pitching in relief of Fehmel. Gundy sized guy. Every year there is a new surprise on the pitching staff. Fehmel did well except for the 3 run jack.

6-4 Beavs w 2 out in top of 8th. 2 on. Mulholland in.
He got 'out of it', having overcome a dreadful call at 2B by our friend. 6-4 Beavs going to b8.

Ya gotta love what Pearce says about why he chose OSU: “it is the school of my dreams and the best of the best. I’ve worked 15 years to be here.” (...said NO young BB player ever about tsdtr)

Umpire Mark Buchanan improved greatly today upon moving from third base to second base. He only blew one call, the force play that extended the eighth inning, when replay clearly showed the runner (who also slid high into second base, and rolled through the bag) was out. That's a 100% improvement from Friday!
NCAA Force-Play-Slide Rule (NCAA Rule 8, Section 4):
The intent of the force-play-slide rule is to ensure the safety of all players. This is a safety and an interference
rule. Whether the defense could have completed the double play has no bearing on the applicability of this
rule. This rule pertains to a force-play situation at any base, regardless of the number of outs.
c. Actions by a runner are illegal and interference shall be called if:
2. The runner uses a rolling or cross-body slide and either makes contact with or alters the
play of a fielder;
Penalty for 1-5
2. With two outs, the interfering runner shall be declared out and no other runner(s) shall
advance.

I'm pretty sure the slide was what brought Bailes out. Call was pretty close at full speed.

I don't know what will be worse, if this umpire is behind the plate tomorrow or if he's at first base either way I don't like the idea of him being on the field right now.
