Hey Tigard ... in fairness to Jon, Big Jim didn’t think he pulled his foot off first either. track record of Jon says wait for BJW to tell ya what happened.  Jon has improved a lot. And my momma said if ya can't say anything nice... in Jon's defense he never mentioned the McGrath family press box 147 times Jon still shows his complete ignorance of the game of baseball, though. Seriously, it's below my level when I was a HS kid. He must have said that the guy who hit the go ahead SINGLE, had hit a double about 10 times. It probably took every bit of restraint Big Jim Wilson had to keep himself from screaming "IT WAS A SINGLE, AND AN ADVANCE TO 2ND ON THE THROW, YOU IDIOT!" This is the type of mistake I expect a Mom scoring my little league games to make (except my scorekeeper was a college softball player, so I actually WOULDN'T expect her to make that mistake). It's blatant ignorance of how any baseball game is scored, and pretty much inexcusable for a guy getting paid even $5 to broadcast a game. SaveSave |

I agree, this isn't little league. Which is why I expect the guy calling a game to understand the difference between a double and a single with an advance to 2nd on the throw. I just hope that someone explains this basic scoring information to Mr. Warren so he doesn't make the same mistake again. It's almost as bad as an Umpire not knowing foul ball rules. I would expect the HS girl who scores for CV to understand this information, so I don't think it's a stretch to expect JW to know it as well. SaveSave |
