Only 19 at half. Down 10. Tres can't jump.
Magic Johnson with a 10 minute sideline interview during the game.

Don't think we're playing that poorly other than the fact we can't seem to knock a shot down. Getting open looks and playing decent basketball just can't get one to go

One point per minute (or less) isn’t going to win any games in the Pac. Disappointing.

Seriously, playing well? This game just puts the spotlight on our weaknesses. What offense are we running? Just dribble around for a pass or shot up out of arses. No real depth whatsoever. Big G shooting 3s? Hollins can score some but is not a shooter per se. Kone did hit the backboard I guess. A dozen opportunities to get the ball down low to Eubanks but chose not to. Where is Reichle after playing so well last night. A lot of shots taken by non-scorers as SC knows who to leave open and we fall right into their strategy. Not having a point guard is killing us in this game as bad pass after bad pass gets picked and dunks on the other end. Will we even break 50 points? Playing well? Really?
Changes are needed. Crucify if you want but tell me we aren't underperforming.

We have a number of capable scorers on the team that probably were very successful in high school against lessor athletic talent. What we don't have is any dependable shooters. Not one guy on the team is a true scoring threat to the other team from mid to long range. Even the scorers we have aren't all that successful against a physical defense close to the hoop.

We have NO depth (recruiting). Bench scored two (2) points in this one. We NEEDED more. Tres being hurt didn't help, that's for sure. Obviously we need a PG. A good one. I'm not sure they grow on trees though.

No one runs plays/patterns/systems anymore Basketball has become five one on one's, not five on five. You ain't got no playas, you ain't got no hope. Yo-yo, pass, yo-yo. shot. Even the guys in the hole yo-yo. Ralph would have a coronary and face plant in front of the 1000 who show up. Slats would just get a rope and ladder and hang himself from the closest basket. Not a game I recognize anymore. Seriously. When is the last time you have seen a weak side cut off a pop out pick. Even football has turned into a two hands anywhere game. Thank God for baseball. Even though pitchers can't even throw a message pitch anymore.

Crucify if you want but tell me we aren't underperforming. I maintain that I think we generally played well tonight. I was at the game, as I have been all season (every home game, plus the road Civil War and both Vegas games), and I think this is one of the best games we played from an effort, defense, and team perspective. We simply could not get a shot to fall, no matter how open. If you look at the team stats for the night we had more shot attempts, tied in rebounds but with more boards on the offensive glass, had more assists, shot better from the line, the shots just simply weren't falling. I thought we had plenty of good looks and good opportunities to close the gap and make it a close game we just too often couldn't get it close enough. USC is a good team and I think we were a much better team than our record showed all year long. Next year will be fun so long as the whole group comes back like they should (looking at your Drew). If we get the JC PG we need then even better. Did we underperform this year? I think yes, absolutely. Is there a bright future for these guys next year? To that, I also think there 100% is with the core that we have hopefully coming back. I believe in Wayne, I believe in these guys that we have. I won't be a student anymore next year to try and lead the Beaver Dam for another year but I'll be there every game yelling my a$$ off like always. GO BEAVS!!!

I mostly agree with this and I was at both Vegas games also. It hurt to have our best player hobbled. My working theory on this team, and frankly with the last three years is we are playing too tight. I think it is a combination of Coach Tinkle's personality along with the three or four guys who take the great majority of the shots. There is probably an easy fix, but figuring out the adjustment is anything but easy. A couple symptoms of this are S Thompson's free throws and Eubanks offense game (shot making). Thompson is well above-average shooter yet struggles at the line. Eubanks is a very good shot, yet if he feels the guy guarding him is good, he gets timid and becomes a poor shot. I understand Metu but even Thomas Walsh got into his head. I want our guys to play within the game and make smart decisions but at the same time develop a little more devil-may-care attitude. You'd think it is easy but it is a tall task.

A couple of things: mr. Eubanks just to let you know you are not ready for the NBA. This team does not have the athletes to play against top tier teams even in the pac12.. Finally I am not sure what we try to do on offense except waste half of the shot clock by passing it 25 feet from the hoop.

I’m impressed with sc. They’re very athletic and play an aggresive swarming defense. Good shots are hard to come by and they take you out of your offensive rhythm. I think most of our offensive struggle can be traced to that. They could make a run in March with the right draw.
We’re not far from being a good team. But we’ve got to develope better depth and a scorer off the bench. Our outside shooting was erratic this year. Doesn’t seem like we have that guy who can light it up consistantly. Point guard by committee is also less than ideal.

Felt like it was 5 vs 7 because of their athleticism and length on defense, Metu was everywhere and they showed what you can do with a smart, mature, legit PG in McLaughlin. We still need to get so much more athletic - we don't have anyone that can truly create a shot or blow by anyone and I don't see that changing next season. Did like what I saw out of Reichle and Hollins 2nd half of the year.

Eubanks had to bang against the huge Kiwi and by the end of the game he was dragging a bit. Hard to turn around in less than 24 hours and play USC after that. Needed much better bench support to give some guys some rest and it wasn't there. I am not even sure that Tres would have been playing had it been regular season with more games ahead.

I'm starting to think USC is pretty good defensively, that maybe that might have had something to do with why we struggled last night. They are a tough matchup for anyone.
