Mississippi States opening their brand new ballpark today. $55 million "renovation" that completely tore down the old ballpark and built a brand new one on top of it. With the success of the program, Goss getting bigger and bigger crowds, OSU putting up those temporary bleachers every year in the outfield, and no room behind the infield to expand, do you think something like this ever happens way into the future with goss? Or do you think OSU will just put permanent bleachers all along the outfield and call it good. Heres some pics Attachments:

Beautiful. They’ve had over FIFTEEN THOUSAND in the stands for s ball game. Completely different animal. Would love to see Goss expanded with permanent seating, and an upper deck!😀

Assume they take the 3rd base dugout since the 1st base side has the bull pen essentially right out in the open for all to see who's warming up with ease. Also in a good spot to heckle and positioned just right to add a little added pressure on someone who might be struggling with location.

Heres some pics There are plans to potentially build a concourse over the current visitors bullpen at Goss and tie in the right field seats making them permanent. This would be a nice upgrade so that you would actually be inside the stadium if you chose to sit in right field.

Looks like a old part of a barn for the cover. Don't really care for it my self. My guess is that someone is going to get hit with a foul ball on either side on those grassy area's. Will be a bunch if kids playing grab ass not pay attention to a foul ball ripped their way. Good for them for the expansion, However I don't see a complete overhaul to Goss.

Also would like to see them build permanent seats over our bullpen linked to the concourse through Banners - that would be a relatively inexpensive upgrade that would take our capacity to over 4000, throw seating over the top of the visitor's bullpen and we would be a 5000 seat stadium without having to do any major changes to the core part of the park. And for big series we could sell out - baseball might even become a break-even sport at OSU.
And compared to anything else in the Pac-12, that would look awesome!

I would think Oregon State has the existing shell to be a scenic, attractive, and compact on-campus collegiate ball park. The best place to view a ball game is in the horseshoe surrounding the area from first base around to third base. Making outfield bleachers your focal point for expansion should be only dictated by budget constraints. Go for the horseshoe!
OSU's athletic administrators need to have a 15-20 year expansion plan for Goss/Coleman if they wish to continue the kind of baseball tradition Coley, Jack Riley and PC have built here. Facilities will be a major part in the future success of Beaver baseball.
I think going vertical is the best course for the future. Increase the seating capacity in the horseshoe by 50%, then look to the outfield bleacher seats for more permanent seating. At a capacity of 5-6,000, you should buy enough time to begin a long term plan of breaking new ground for a larger baseball Stadium, probably off campus as on-campus space become even more valuable for academic expansion.
We need a visionary that cares about baseball in our Athletic Department - somebody to get the ball rolling.

Afternoon games start at noon or 1 p.m. Sunset after the onset of DST is 7 p.m. or later. You would not be looking directly into the sun anymore than those do in the east grandstand during FB, which is, hardly ever. Missed your negativity, BH. Glad to see you back.

No matter the plan it would all have to be private as baseball et al are not getting more $.
Plus... the financial cost is not supported by the crowds we currently draw. We don't have 1000's waiting on season tix. We fill up Goss 10+ games a year. Other crowds when weather isn't great are under 2k in actual bodies.
And, the Knights certainly don't need to seats. So, to expand at a prohibitive cost is unreasonable especially when the first half of the season is cold and wet. Our situation is nowhere near what happens in the SEC and bolstering football is the key to our athletic department.

If you build it, they will come By "build it" you mean "win," right? All those extra seats at Reser have sure been getting a workout lately.

They'd have to tear down the naval rotc potentially but I'm sure they could find a new building for them.

Sitting in the infield compared to sitting in the outfield is night and day, the outfield is fine and all but being right on top of the action in the infield is so much better. Would there be enough room though? Third base side wouldn't be a problem but that'd be a tight squeeze with the rec center on the first base side.
