In the last 2 games I watched the Beavs against ASU, she ciuldn't hit the ocean from the beach . They had this game, and Kat had some great looks, but she just didn’t have it. I had a bad feeling about playing the Devils and having to beat them a third time. Very tough to do. Looks likely that we’ll be on the road from game 1 of the NCAA tourney.

Allowing ASU so many offensive rebounds and forcing so few turnovers cost OSU the game just as much as their poor 4th quarter shooting. True enough. Same thing happened in the home loss against Stanford when the Cardinal got offensive rebound after offensive rebound. |

Coach SR has the biggest sound system set up in the training center, I suggest playing U2 Desire on repeat with a banner at each end simply saying Box out & Rebound

It was exactly the righy thing ti suffocate Marie and force us to shoot tge ball from the outside. If our shooting was even decent by our standards, it wouldn't have been close. We hit a few and suddenly Marie has room to work inside and the Devils are cooked. Ubfortunatey, it was the Devils' bigs who had all the elbow room thanks to one of their perimeter players in particular stepping up and killing us on the arc. Crappy shooting at a very inopportune time was the story. |

Obvious weaknesses are often ignored when your team is winning...
This team was far far to outside oriented all season long. Marie's 36 vs ASU was an anomaly... yet not. She was a presence and was all season, but had no interior help.
I mentioned several times that our "4" was a non factor as far as inside play. Others took it as a slight to TC. Simple fact... TC and MW are not inside threats. They are not rebounding machines. They are not defensive stoppers.
This team lacked/missed the twosome that did all that and more. SR's recent teams have had that "4" that was the "other" inside muscle. Marie was not so lucky as Maddie simply had a tough year, and 90% of Corosdale's game is on the outside.
The 3pt shot was a necessity as there was no other way to take the pressure off Marie. And, although a great season, will be the "life or death" on the road in the tourney. Unless they get very hot from distance it's a short stay vs quality teams.

Without question you are correct about our 4's. We have no Bre Brown's on this team. TC has serious potential, but she needs the off season to strengthen her upper body, and, learn the art of rebounding. That isn't going to be "fixed" before the NCAA Tournament. Although, it would be good for the coaches to put some focus on it before the Beavers are shipped out for games 1 & 2. MW needs to work on shooting that mid-range jumper. It is open all the time, but she just cannot make that shot reliably. Another off season project. MW does play defense, which is why she gets any time on the floor.
