Now that the major renovation/rebuild of Key Arena has been approved and funding secured ($600 Million), that will certainly take it out of play for the duration of construction. At least one, maybe 2 years. If they are successful landing NHL and NBA teams it could take the event away from Seattle permanently.
Given how good both Oregon teams are likely to be into the future I wonder whether there would be any potential interest in hosting it at the Moda Center?

Interesting question......Just thinking out loud here because I don't know any of the particulars, but it seems to me the Moda people could put together a 5 year bid with very low prospects for financial failure..... Both Oregon schools are likely to be strong for the next 5 years, and fan support for both schools is very strong by Pac-12 standards..
Not sure how excited the other Pac-12 schools would be on this kind of an arrangement, however....
Bottom line: No one in the Pac supports WBB unless it's winning...
It seems to me that Moda is the best bet for drawing a decent crowd the next 5 years.

Another brilliant decision by Pac-12 administrators. I mean, why put it in Portland, where it would draw great the next two seasons because both in-state programs will be good, when we can put it in Vegas and draw nobody?

Well......the drive to the Space Needle was a lot easier. On the other hand it's a fairly easy drive from LV to San Diego and the grandkids.

I think it is a good idea. Why should any team have a home town advantage. Either rotate it around our play at a neutral place.

And yet I don't think either UW or WSU benefited any from the tournament being in their home state. In those 6 tournaments WSU and UW each advanced to the semifinals just once.

They never had a problem having the tournament in San Jose, about 10 miles from Stanford. Or at Key Arena, three miles from UW. Having thousands of fans, and a championship atmosphere, at a tournament is a good thing. Playing games before 200 people at an empty casino arena is not.

Well, I won't be going. My wife and I attended, both of the last two years in Seattle. It would have been great to have it in the Moda Center. L.V. stinks.
If they were concerned at all about attendance the Rose Quarter would have been close to sold out with both the Beavs and ucks having top 20 or more likely top 10 teams for the next 2 or 3 years...
