Extremely excited for baseball to start, does anyone have any idea what our opening day line-up will look like?

Well I dont think Casey has announced that yet.
Im not any type of insider but I do read all the news I can find. Here is what Im tracking.....
Infield, the two newcomers,Madrigal and Greiner, are going to get playing time. My guess is at the cost of Hamilton and Donahue.
Outfield: Carry is out with Tommy John surgery. Big question is who plays CF? Nobach could but he was so solid in LF. I see Anderson, Pomeroy or even Church in the mix and maybe a Freshman.
Pitching: Friday guy is Rasmussen Saturday Eckert Sunday ?
Maybe Heimlich or Thompson
Bad news, tweedt is not on the roster Tommy John surgery.
No idea on how the relievers will shake out.
Im sure Casey will explore several combinations leading up to League play in the hope of finding the right combination/lineup.
This is a talented team. Just a matter of how many new face can play high level Pac 12 ball right away.

Lots of depth on defense in IF. Madrigal played occasional CF for the Knights in summer 2015. Don't know if Donahue did also, or not ??

A total guess on my part, and jmho.
Ice and KJ are locks. I won't believe that Morrison isn't the starting shortstop until Casey sends the players out there without Morrison at short. I also believe that Donahue will be at 2B with an opposing righty on the mound at least to start the season. Madrigal would be the likely 2B against lefty starters in my pure guess scenario.
I would be slow to rule out Hamilton at 3B simply because he is huge in the leadership department. Of course, Hamilton has to back that leadership with effective ABs. He is the one guy on the team who will stand up to Casey, and I think Casey really respects that if the bat can back up the tough guy thing. I don't think Gretler can be discounted as he works tirelessly, and I expect a big improvement.
Grenier was totally amazing last summer for the Elks. Great range right and left. Great anticipation of the ball off the bat. Absolute gun for an arm though Billy King made some acrobatic layouts to save some of the throws. He does have some holes in his bat as just about every high school kid has, but the kid doesn't take a swing that he isn't using as a learning situation. Casey will shrink his zone which is needed in Cadyn's case even though us posters will gripe about being agressive. Guy will be on the field somewhere. Did I mention his foot speed? Lol. Kid can run. My money on Grenier in a race with Madrigal.
Madrigal will start and play somewhere. Joe Gilette isn't getting much love in the write-ups, but the kid can play. Cary, Nobach, the freshman power guy (can't think of his name), Gilette, infield transitioners--potentially loaded outfield. Finally, Andy Atwood as the surprise player if he can get a shot.
Again, just a total guess for my 17 starters. Lol.

Casey plays a lot of combos in the early games. I like that a lot. Chance for players to "make out the line up card".
I appreciate your thoroughness. Hints from Casey that Grenier and madrigal will start. Possibly moving Morrison to CF? Or maybe the other way around.
Who will be over in RF? One of the rooks? What is the story on Atwood?

Tough to image Gretler at 3B over Hamilton. That happened last year w Hamilton injury, and it took a bit out of the offense. I think Grenier, with his arm, is more likely to become at least the backup 3B....and also quite possibly a starting middle infielder. His level of play with the Elks was stunning.

That is probably true. I likely have some head scratchers in there. I didn't know where to put Grenier. But sounded like PC was going to get him in there. Who do you put in CF?
I am guessing on the fly that some of the returners will be improved. And betting on the come that the FNG will fit into Casey's plan.
Guess we'll have to wait for baseba111 to fill out the opening day lineup. (which I am looking forward to btw)

It'll be the one PC writes in... fairly simple. Seems to be a waste of time to speculate a line up unless there is a prize for being correct... for what game #1. PC will dabble all pre-season. Bigger questions are not in the batting order.

Speculation & MMQB is what baseball is all about. Seriously baseba111. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the lineup & positions

I'll give half of my two cents... the two frosh infielders are better than the three older, but PC is not handing anyone a job. So, ss/2b/3b might be a revolving door for a while. But, "bats" will be in the lineup somewhere.

Call me crazy but I just can't imagine moving T mo out of SS. Having a Junior SS who is rock solid in all aspects of his game is what a P 12 coach dreams of... Morrison has improved at the plate and I'm hoping that trend continues for his Junior year.
I understand the 2 Freshman are lights out.... I just think you have to find a way to fit them in around Morisson and KJ, whatever that looks like.
I could also see Donahue as the DH.
I do agree we will see many combinations leading up to that P 12 opener. What is super crazy is March 18th, we hose ASU. That isn't too far away. So excited!

King has neer really impressed at the DH, hopefully he breaks out this year, but wouldn't be shocked if one of the fab frosh take his spot. Plus, Casey talked about the importance of having guys that can play multiple positions, not just in the infield, but OF as well. Grenier Madrigal playing CF wouldn't shock me, either.

I kind of mailed in the King as DH pick. Without seeing any scrimmages or any of the newcomers I just plugged in someone that had some experience there. I noticed I only have 2 newcomers in the line up. Grenier & Madrigal. So that is probably already wrong.
