Unfortunately, Preston received his chance at the DH slot against Ryan Feltner. Jones struck out twice and looked lost in the batters box on both K's. Feltner throws BB's and Jones was baffled by it. Malone pinch hit for Jones on the 3rd at bat and he struck out as well. Nobach pinch hit for Anderson and hit a single to LF in the late innings. I believe the way it played out is that Malone pinch hit for Preston and Nobach came in as a defensive replacement for Malone in Left and Kyle just took his turn in the batting order with a huge hit. Anderson came through big in the inning as well. |

If this is true, not that bad...will miss 1-4 Pac-12 series...

If this is true, not that bad...will miss 1-4 Pac-12 series... Agree. Working his way back to full strength in mid April isn't a season changing problem. |

If this is true, not that bad...will miss 1-4 Pac-12 series... Man, that’s tough. Nick’s aggressiveness is one of his great attributes, but I wish he’d have held up a little on that play. It’s not just losing one of the top 5 players in the country for 4-6 weeks, it’s also the difficulty involved in getting back timing and confidence. If anyone can weather this it’s Madrigal, but there’s no guarantee that he’ll be back to form in 2 months. I hate it when this happens. The Beavs are a deep, talented team, but you don’t plug and play for a player who is your heart and soul. This setback might cost us a series and/or a few games, and it changes team dynamics, not the least will be what kind of pitches the guys around him in the order see while he’s out. I’ll continue with my “glass half-full” approach. With PC at the helm and a lot of capable guys on this roster, this will be an opportunity for others to step up, and I trust that they will. Everything else aside, I just hate that we’ll get to see that many fewer performances from Nick in a Beaver uniform before he takes his talents to pro ball this summer, and I feel bad for him. |

Kids like Nick are rare. Talent and a great work-ethic. Hope it’s nothing serious.
