Craig Robinson had 64 wins in his first 4 seasons at Oregon State. Wayne Tinkle is at 54 with 4 regular season games left + what I would guess is one Pac-12 tournament game. What's your point?...WT has also had more winning seasons(2) in 3+ seasons than Robinson(1) did in 6 seasons

This team is frustrating; talent and size-wise we are as good as anyone in the league. Leadership and heart; we are at the bottom. Our record shows how important the later are. We all know we need a pg, so I won’t belabor that. I don’t understand why this team lacks a killer instinct, an ability to step up and play better in pressure. We do the opposite. What’s the right phrase for that?
Obviously coaching is fair game for our woes, but there is some good evidence of what a good coach WT is. Years 1/2 were fun to watch. I think there may be more going on, some weird dynamic between coaches and coaches’ sons. Something either the coaches or players are not handling well. WLP often stated, obsessively, that coaches played favorites. If true, that could tear a team apart. Who knows. It is a unique situation and if not handled well could be disastrous. On the flip side though, if handled well, it could be amazing, as they are three very talented players. They need to figure it out; cruising through the Pac-12 under-performing like this is embarrassing. I would much rather watch a less talented team over-perform.

It's a tough team to watch for all of the reasons stated, there is talent but we can't seem to finish. My theory, while we have increased the overall talent pool it is not yet fully to PAC12 level especially on the bench.
Let's look at last night:
Starting 5, Minutes played:
Eubanks: 36 Tinkle: 37 Hollins: 15 E Thomp: 30 S Thomp: 40
Next 4: Berger: 4 Big G: 10 Z Richle: 2 K Manual: 22 (subbing for Hollins mostly)
Bench Production: Scoring: 6 points Rebounds: 5 O Rebounds: 0 Assists: 1 Personal Fouls: 6
That is similar to many other games this season. We have the starting 7 but after that production goes to almost zero. When you bring in the subs to give the starters a breather who scores and who plays defense? If you are OSU the answer seems to be no one.
You can coach yourself to death but if you cannot find the combinations of players to get the job done it is tough to win. Blame the coach for the talent available and for their development. I think we are just a very young team. But expecting the starting 5 to play 30 plus minutes means you are gassed at crunch time.
Season summary, we win at home against teams we are supposed to beat but lose to the same team on the road. We stick in games on the road and at home against better teams only to lose late or fade in the 2nd half. We are not losing in blowouts generally, we are losing games we have more than a chance to win.
The difference is clear, we need better production from more than the top 5-7 players.
I'm out!
Go Beaver's
