As their players... CC is just bad!
One team... calm, cool, collected... just like their coach...
The other... not so much.
PS- Taya has to contribute something. She may have given up more offensive boards than boards she got. Even off fts.

Who is Tara? If you mean Taya, she didn't do anything but lead the team in assists.

Her play and fucla's strategy... allowed them to play 5 on 4 much of the time and Marie took the brunt of it. Great win. But, not everyone played especially well.

It wasn't her best game but she did find a way to contribute. I'm not sure who should play in her place. While Maddie is a shooter unfortunately she is not a scoring threat and I think Taya is better on defense. Jo was ineffective as well. Maybe move KtMac to high post and bring in Taylor or Aleah, not likely to happen since CR said at the beginning of the season that he was limiting the positions she will need to play.

Who came up with the block on Dean's shot attempt at the end of regulation?
Just number 5 in the white jersey.
And I agree 100% in your assessment of Cori Close, she has yet to show that she can coach up her players. Unfortunately it is usually the other way.

To me, the amazing aspect to this team and 20 W's and counting... we are really not deep at all. Maddie seems almost afraid to even attempt a shot. Jo is Jo. Thorpay is consistently injured so I'm really not sure what she could do if she actually got enough minutes to develop. Taylor and Aleah got about 4 min each or so. That being said... we're even more shallow when you look at Marie getting any inside scoring help. So, looking at the big picture it really has been amazing how these girls are 20-6/11-4! Beat SC to avenge that debacle, 12-4... and maybe tied for 3rd depending on uck vs fucla outcome. Then Zona big, rest some bodies... 13-4... even a lose to the hated "biotch" 13-5 or 14-4 is remarkable headed into Seattle.

Can’t agree w judging a 1st year player, albeit late in that first year, on scoring total, or other factors against an elite PAC 12 team like UCLA. No more than I’d judge a players value based on an 0-fer shooting performance in the Palouse. Look at it this way: while it’s unquestionable that Marie is the heart and strength of this team, who would have thought so 3/4 of the way through her freshman season? Player development proceeds at varying rates.

Look at it this way: while it’s unquestionable that Marie is the heart and strength of this team, who would have thought so 3/4 of the way through her freshman season? Player development proceeds at varying rates. I'll only disagree in that once you step on the floor as a D1 hoops player at an elite school you are constantly being judged... coaches, opposing coaches, media, teammates, fans, the player themselves, etc. In that my "judgement" was made in context of what is needed for this team to be successful in the Pac12 tournament and as a seeded team in the tourney, it is a valid concern Taya has not really stepped up her game as the season progressed. Not what is really expected from a highly touted recruit that'll be our most experienced "big" next year. Right now that is a scary thought with only Jo and two frosh coming. But for now... the rest of this season... a post season team that wants to win games (most likely on the road) can't have a "hole" on the team. Pivec has also struggled some, but she has the burden of ball handling and running the team the vast majority of the time and has performed admirably in a position she is not truly suited for. Taya is no longer a freshman... she's a game tested Pac12 player and has played very soft vs the upper echelon teams... which is what we'll face in the post season. In real terms SR has no better option as Maddie has not earned more time. The other option has been to go small with Katie inside, which has been highly successful in certain games. Which really goes back to a previous post (another thread??) that it is truly amazing that this teams is where they are at considering that SR has little depth upfront. All of that also supports my opinion Marie should be the POY in the Pac12... assuming a 13-5 or 14-4 finish and at least one W in the Pac12 tourney.
