Without a true point guard it would be a bit out of control at times, but when we got away from the slow the pace grind it out game to the pedal to the metal game, we certainly dismantled Wazzu.

This team needs to go all in on D. They emphasized that during the 4-week span in late December and January. Ugly games, fewer possessions, maybe some open looks at threes.

Problem is, they have demonstrated time and time again that they can't keep that up for 40 minutes. It's much more fun to run and gun

I'm sure that will turn out well against the Hopkins robots tonight.

Again I'm going to point out we got away from the grind it out slow pace basketball and took it right down their throats in the second half and overtime, and had the same result.
They may not have a pure point guard and then maybe a little bit sloppy but I'm enjoying the game more and the results more.
Nothing undisciplined about it, just a much better brand of basketball for the guys we have on the court.

Whether this was a coaching directive to pick up the pace or if it was the players taking the initiative, I do not know. But wow was that fun. I can only think how agonizing that must have been to watch from the other side. That adds to the pleasure.

Seems coach is looking to get creative with his lack of a pg, rather than trying to force the issue. Last night it was penetrating the zone with the pass and against WSU it was pushing the ball up-court.
Last night was particularly interesting to me because it was a good look at what our half court game could be with a pg. TT worked very well off the ball and when he got the ball in the middle of the key he was deadly; one move, a couple dribbles, and to the rim, score or pass to DE. He made DE and STJ better.
Credit ET for effective pg play. Not all we want from a pg, but he didn’t try to do too much.
I think the UW coach made a huge mistake staying in that zone. It was probably the best way for us to match up against that team. Why they leave the middle of the key open like that is odd to me. Unfortunately, no other team in the Pac will run that zone at us and uw will likely watch some game tape and not do it again.
We’ll see how many more creative pg-less ideas wt can come up with.
