DBar signed a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training with the Texas Rangers. Those of you lucky enough to go to Surprise wish him good luck. The Rangers train at the same stadium that we play our tournaments.

The Rangers train at the same stadium that we play our tournaments. Oregon State's last game at Surprise Stadium is against Ohio State at 9:00 a.m. MST on the 25th. First pitch for the Rockies and Rangers in the same Stadium is at 1:05 p.m. That might be a good opportunity to watch both DBar and the Beavers.

I see via several twitter posts that DBar and the Rangers parted company on 3/20 - at Darwin’s request . Perhaps he can latch on with one of the bottom feeding teams - such as my favorites (since 1959), the downtrodden Pittsburgh Pirates. Utility infielders that can play a + second base and a decent SS/3B...and hit .245 should have a home somewhere in MLB.
p.s he actually had a .300 BA in spring training this year with the Rangers.

A couple we talked to in Surprise, who seemed to be in the loop, said that he is thinking of shutting it down. Missing to much time with his family. I will miss seeing him on the field, but as a guy with 4 "kids" and 7 grands I really get it.

He might have pulled the plug too quickly. Odor and Andrus are hurt, and Andrus will be out for a while. Had he gone to triple-A for a couple weeks, he might have been recalled.
But can't fault his decision. Maybe the Rangers reach out to him anyways.
His successor at 2B in Toronto is hitting .086, with a .135 OBP.

No interest "at this point." If the Rangers are interested, they do not want to seem too anxious about it. GMspeak is rarely based entirely in reality.

I watched D-Bar in a spring game; He broke up a no hitter in about the 4th or 5th inning.
