Now Dr. Ray needs to step up to the plate and publicly apologize for throwing LH under the bus! That could go a long way as far as shutting the uninformed the he!! up.
Go Beavs!! It certainly does at least allow for "the other side of the story" to come out, instead of the "mob justice" mentality that is always prevalent when provocative stories like this are reported. I don't know if it rises to the level of Ray needing to publicly apologize, but it sure would be nice if stories like this would get as much run as the sensationalized "MLB Draft Prospect is a Convicted Child Molester!" ones did. That headline reads a lot better than: "Kid's Family Got Bad Legal Advice and it Bit Them in the Ass - HARD" does. SaveSave

It’s utterly amazing that we’ll still probably have ignorant ‘fans’ bad mouthing our ace pitcher even after getting the whole story. But it’s in adversity that people show their true colors. Just glad that Luke had the maturity and intelligence to weather this unbelievable storm and is coming back to win a championship this season

ok Wilky, are you going to rationalize or man-up? Or his buddy Jerk off a lot....... er......what's his name? It looks like "Wilky" has eliminated his posts on the subject......hmmmmmmm. His posts are still there in a locked thread. And even if he could edit his posts now, they've been quoted by other posters for posterity. I don't think it's really beneficial to call people out who don't agree on this topic. It's a toxic subject and LH will never be able to fully get away from it. He'll live with it always, and so will those that continue to bring it up.

Hi Jeff, thanks for mentioning me.
I'll man up.
I have never said that Luke should not be allowed to pitch or go to Oregon State. I do not think he got bad legal advice. In fact, had the state not mistakenly thought he was required to register, it would've been extremely sound legal advice, as he would've made it through the entire process without anyone knowing.
Forgive me for thinking that a guy that pled guilty to sexual molestation of a minor was guilty. Seemed like a reasonable assumption to me.
However, for me to believe that he is 100% innocent, I have to believe that a six year old girl got in front of authorities and lied her ass off so convincingly that the best course of action was for Luke to plead guilty to avoid going to a juvenile detention center. I'm not willing to do that. I have a six year old daughter. She lies quite often, but she sucks at it and invariably cracks under pressure.
I know the whole "mom convinced her this happened to her so that she could retain full custody" issue is at play, and that's valid I suppose. But the mom lost that battle anyways, yet still seems rather upset about the whole situation, which leads me to believe that the mom herself believes this happened and is not just concocting a story out of thin air about the teenage son of her ex-husband in order to make sure he can't see his daughter, which....holy crap. That's some next level hate.
I believe the truth is somewhere in between.
I believe that if you plead guilty to sexual molestation of a six year old, you don't have the right to be upset when people find out and look at you differently.
I believe that if you've fulfilled the obligations of your sentencing, you are free to do what you want and it should not be held against you. He's going to have to live with opposing fans calling him all sorts of stuff, but he's free to pitch. He's got a home at OSU, where people knew him before the conviction came to light and know the kind of person he is now. He's got to find a professional organization that is willing to get to know the person he is now and not worry about the PR hit that comes with employing someone with that kind of conviction. Just like he has a right to pitch, MLB teams have a right to not hire him if they don't want to. Should they hire him? If they want to win, probably. But just like Kaepernick/Tebow/etc. there are some off the field things that come with having him on your roster that may (fairly or unfairly) outweigh the benefit of having him on the field.
I think the truth lies somewhere in between what was reported in the Oregonian and what was reported in the Tribune. I think that people are saying that the Tribune article is "better" because it explores the story from an angle they want to believe. Moran reached out to the Heimlich family for comment before going to press....they didn't respond. How do you expect him to write a story that includes therapist reports and other things that aren't made available to him?
I don't think Moran or the Oregonian has a vendetta against Oregon State. I've seen plenty of negative stories about the other school in the state as well. I've seen plenty of positive stories about OSU athletes and coaches along the way.
I also think Kerry Eggers is hands down the best source for OSU information in the state.
Those are my opinions. I stand by them.

ok Wilky, are you going to rationalize or man-up? You have to link me to your posts; otherwise, I won't see them. I would respectfully ask everyone here to go back and read my posts. I requested that everyone reading my posts point me to something that made a bunch of yokels cheering on a one-time convicted child molester ok. No one responded with a good reason for it. ( hawksea may have, but I missed his post before it was deleted.) Now, there is an article, which is exactly what I was asking for. I really do not want to be negative about Luke Heimlich. I want to be a fan of each member of the team from the coaches to the players. And that is the same no matter the sport. I think @jerkalotopus gives a good rundown. The article adds a lot of context, which is great. It is exactly what I asked for and exactly what not one person on this board supplied. However, I agree with Jerkalotopus. I think that the Oregonian gave Luke and the other Heimlichs a shot to set the record straight and they did not respond. Luke and the Heimlichs had their shot. That is on Luke. That is on the Heimlichs. If you think you were in the right, why was there no article at the time? Why did Luke and the Heimlichs not set the record straight? Why did luke choose to stay in Corvallis, when the team went to Omaha? Why did the Heimlichs wait until the whole of Luke's file was sealed? Unless they knew that they could handpick information that would support their version of events after the fact? That raises a lot more questions than it answers in my book. The facts of the matter are still that a six-year-old, who is now at least 12 thinks that Luke did something sexual to her. She has two separate instances in her mind of Luke doing sexual things to her. Her mother believes her to such an extent that she still has clearly not forgiven Luke. If the mother was going to fabricate a story, she surely would have fabricated a story against Josh Heimlich, not Luke. So, unless something happened, why is Luke being singled out? And why is Luke still being singled out? There is a logical answer to those questions. And where is any statement from Josh Heimlich in the Tribune article? You would think, if Luke's old brother and the father of an emotionally scarred 12-year-old was 100% on board with Luke's version of events, he would have made a statement, right? If Luke's brother and the father of an emotionally scarred 12-year-old was 100% on board with Luke's version of events, he would have spoken to the Tribune, right? However, the Tribune article says for the very first time that it was Josh, and not the girl's mother, that called the police on Luke. That is huge news and blows up the whole the mother fabricated this story right there! The article also mentions the fact that the relationship between Josh and Luke is strained. However, it seems like Josh is the one that is straining it. Logically, reading between the lines, it appears that is because Josh believes that Luke at least did something to his daughter that Luke should not have. I have a four- and a seven-year-old. Both are terrible liars. This little girl would have to be an evil genius to put together an internally-consistent story of her uncle doing something bad to her on multiple occassions and not change her tale after multiple retellings. Luke says he did not do it? He shares that with the a good chunk of convicts. And, if someone that did something wrong does not admit guilt, the recidivism rate is markedly higher. I will continue to say what I have been saying. I am not enraptured with Luke pitching, but he has every right to. Casey vouches for him. I like Casey. That goes a long way with me. Still, it remains my opinion that Luke should not be cheered on for being Luke. That strikes me as wrong. Disagree with me, if you would like. But I will continue to call a spade a spade. Finally, I still stand behind what I said about the Benton County Sheriff's Office. The Benton County Sheriff's Office works their tail off to keep Benton County safe. I will never apologize for defending them in this case. Not ever.

I want to be a fan of each member of the team from the coaches to the players. And that is the same no matter the sport. That would be correct, I did post it but then figured it was not my place to. Luke also was unable to say anything to the Oregonian (or any media) until his record was cleared for fear of them not clearing it if he spoke up. Personally, what Luke's mom said was very important to why I believe Luke is innocent. She mentioned that Luke was almost never there when his nieces and nephew were there, and when he was there she was typically (or always, can't remember exactly what she said) was there also. None of Josh's kids acted weird around Luke while everything was going on, and I would think that a kid that age would avoid someone like him if they could. I was never molested, but there were people I would make sure to avoid when I was a child. Wilky, I don't necessarily agree with your opinion, but I also won't bash you for it. None of us except Luke (since the girl doesn't remember anything happening according to the Oregonian) knows for sure what happened, and none of us ever will know. I will be cheering for Luke because he pitches for OSU, and I believe him to be a good person. Even if he did do what he was accused of, he has shown to have become a good person now and is unlikely to ever do something like that again according to experts.

I will never apologize for defending them in this case. Not ever. Unless you are intimately familiar with the BCSO I would be careful about blanket statements. The Deshutes County SO is a F'n mess. 9 officers (I have lost count now) fired in 2 years. A man died in custody while corrections officers laughed at him. I believe the officer in charge of the jail is now the Sheriff. Who has just fired the Deputy that ran against him in the last election. None of this was public until the previous Sheriff retired Lots and lots of stuff gets covered up and does not become public. Certainly Luke's life was harmed by sloppy work in the BCSO...and dm

I will never apologize for defending them in this case. Not ever. It is obvious that The Oregonian would not have given the Heimlichs a fair shake. You would be a fool to give them fuel for their fire. It takes more courage and character to be silent in these type of situations. The silence is to protect others also harmed in the situation and the social justice aftermath. You did notice that Luke Heimlich has still declined interviews. He is still trying to protect everyone involved. We only received more information because Luke's family felt he deserved to be understood. You do not make logical decisions to share this type information in a short time period. For example, we are printing a complicated article about your past that will literally motivate thousands to hate you and you have until Friday to decide whether to interview for this. To me this is a modern day witch Hunt. I believe Luke to be innocent and that makes him the biggest victim of this whole thing. I find it disturbing that people would allow their imagination to feed anger toward Luke. The reality is we do not know what really happened. So why do people torture themselves running through scenarios of how bad the situation could have been. Finally, the lying ability of a 6 year has nothing to do with the situation. Except that no one wanted to see the potential lie deconstructed in court,it would have been extremely painful. A parent is not a good judge of this emotionally charged potential lie. What would you do if you thought there was even a fraction of truth to the story with your child.

And that young pitcher is Luke Heimlich. I hope he returns and leads the Beavers as their Ace pitcher to Omaha. If the F%#*en Oregonian reporters hadn't have gotten involved of what happen in another state which Luke paid his full debt in, then the Beavers might have faced Florida and the world series! IMO lukw paid his debt and Should not be reminded, hazzed or pestered of his past, let the boy play and lead his team to victory! I agree 100%. The standing O Luke got at last week's Diamond Dinner proves Beaver Nation is ready for his return. His sister in law's vendetta has hopefully run its course. Play ball.
