do something different with our animal? yeah i know it's heresy. Burn me. But now is the time. Lots of schools and team redoing their mascot. Hey it's just a mascot.
Stanford did it and they went with a stupid tree named after a color. I know we can do better.
I would like the edge of something harder like the volcanoes or something. Oregon State University Volcanoes! i like it.

Presenting the Oregon State Firewater Drinkin' Scalp Takin' Tomahawk Throwin' Savages! National recognition would abound! Might be a bit long though.

Or why not go with Oregon State Wollymamoths since we found one under the valley football center. It's unfortunate the athletic dept didn't capitalize on that discovery in the end zone. It got a ton of publicity at the time, I thought there would be some acknowledgement of it within the stadium, during games, or at least a Wolly mammoth burger. Missed marketing opportunity. How many schools can claim proof of an ancient prehistoric beast roaming their stadium?

Since this thread is about abandoning our beloved beaver which is the state animal since we are the state team, why not go for it on here?

Burn? BURN??? Burning is premature and down the list of the full William Wallace treatment of heretics. For a historical perspective only, not an advocacy, it would involve being drug naked down Western Avenue, being stretched out by the neck from the football in the plaza, evisceration, THEN the burning of the intestines in full view of the heretic. After that there were some more unpleasantries, but I would have thought leaving him lie in agony would have been more suitable.

My first reaction is to say "Hey kid, get off my lawn!" However, should we follow Stanford's lead and make the mascot a color.... We could be the Sinpoers (sinners for short?) its close to our current Orange color. Or the Lusty-Gallants? The Bastard-Ambers? Or we stay the Beavers and get the hell off my lawn!
