Oregon State loses 5 key seniors off of last year's team and they're back ranked at 18 with some solid performances at Utah and at home vs Stanford.
I wasn't expecting much this season but it looks like they are going to be very competitive this year.

196.975 was the fifth-best score of the week, nationwide. That's a very, very good score for this early in the season.

Yes, kudos to the Chaplins for allowing a walk-on to compete on beam with many of her friends and family there from the island and she even wins the competition. What an absolute thrill that must have been for her! "Sophomore Maela Lazaro, a native of Aiea, Hawai'i with a couple dozen family, friends and club teammates in attendance, made her college debut in the competitive lineup on the balance beam scoring 9.900 to win the event title." osubeavers.com/news/2018/1/27/womens-gymnastics-beavers-score-big-take-down-stanford.aspx?path=wgym

That was her first NCAA competition, too.

That was her first NCAA competition, too. Yep, that's why they said "made her college debut".
