Funny how folks on an OSU women's basketball board want to talk about stuff other than OSU Women's basketball. When we have an exciting team that just took down a top 10 team and gave them their first conference loss.
Personally, I think we'd be well served to "keep our eye on the ball".
I'm looking forward to OSU v Utah tonight. Gulich versus Potter and Tori Williams vs Pivec.

Huff is a 6'3 transfer who has become their leading rebounder and scorer. She moves well and we will have trouble stopping her. It is Huff who has really elevated the Utes this year. We could easily lose this game. Of course they could be overlooking us as they look forward to playing our big sister on Sunday.

And maybe a strong contribution from Joanna as well. Utah has the same conference record we have and are definitely capable of beating OSU at home. OSU will have to be at their best to get out of SLC with a W.

Gulich has established herself as the best low post player in the Pac - at least in my view. Ruech seems to accept this and he is trying to run his offense thru her remarkable inside game...He is determined to make this work, and thus far he has.
However, with only 1 Big producing significantly Gulich is easily double teamed, collapsed upon and other mean things that cramp her style... For Rueck's game plan to work the Beaver perimeter shooters must relieve pressure on Gulich by scoring from distance. As we all know, this is a pretty simple basketball equation - but, simple as it is, it comes into effect every week, and every week solving this equation determines the outcome of the game.
The Beavs can't win with an inside game only, and they can't win with outside shooting only. Gotta have both. Pretty much every team knows this.
So, what I hope is that tonight Pivec & Tudor (& one more) open up the court for Gulich's interior game with what they do best - dropping the 3.
If this seems like stating the obvious, I guess it is. But it also seems true that for a W tonight the Beavs will need to execute the obvious... GO BEAVS

The remainder of the season and where this team finishes in Pac12 play and any chance of post season success depends on "team"... as in more contributions from anyone not name Tudor or Gulich.
They are the only two performing at a level of a tourney ready team at this point. They are the only two averaging in dbl digits since league play. The rest need to take some pressure off...
Pivec... 8.9/7/4.5 is shooting 31.1%... 31.8% from three... and only 60% from the line. In her 30 min a game her production needs to pick up.
Tara... 6.8/3.4/2.0... 41%/33.3%/75%... is no longer a "true" frosh 19 games in... and needs to help inside a bit more considering Maddy has totally dropped off in production Maddy... 2.4/2.1/1.5... 34.6%/0%/25%... has disappeared in Pac12 play
In 36 min combined minutes Tara and Maddy are providing no interior help to Marie... 9.2/5.5/3.5... on 37% shooting
Katie... 5.4/4.0/4.4... 35.7%/38.5%/100% is the 5th leading scorer and needs to be more aggressive... she needs to be averaging 10+ per game and has the ability to get to the line more. Aleah... 5.1/1.9/1.9... 40.6%/45%/50% has had limited minutes, but does have a place vs certain teams Jo... 2.9/3.0/0.1... 58.8%/NA/0%... only 7.6 min per game but contributing inside more than Tara and Maddy...
Obviously we're playing better opponents in league play, but our +/- has dropped 15 points the last 8 league games and we're -51 on the road in just (3) league games. So... this weekend needs to show a bit of a turnaround!
Go BEAVS

Rueck needs to tell / command KatieMac to take at least 10 shots a game, and remind her at each timeout if she's behind on her quota. That might be the only way to get her to shoot more.
