Wish I coulda been at Gill last night. What a THRILLER.
A few things that come to mind:
(1) After about 1/3 of the Conf. schedule, the PAC is lining up pretty much as most of us on the Board predicted. Stanford, UO, UCLA & OSU slugging it out at the top, with UW, UA & WSU struggling near the bottom. I have the feeling the end of the season will see pretty much the same teams fighting for the same general spots.
(2) When Coach R said this team had offensive firepower he was right. Kat & Marie were scoring machines last night. Very impressive. Kat had her first really good game against a good team. If there are more to come the Beavs will be a tougher and tougher out this season. Totally impressed that Kat was so deadly in a big, big game. Gutsy & skilled.
(3) Last night Coach showed how much he believes there is a significant talent gap between Corosdale & Washington, Kalmer and the 2 starting guards, Marie and Jo....As a rule, you don't give that many minutes to your starters in a critical game (with another one only 44 hours away) unless you are short of confidence in your bench. No rip here. Just stating the obvious.
(4) With regard to (3) the one that I thought most significant was how much floor time Taya logged. That tells me that Coach has made a decision about her. That he truly believes in her game.
(5) 4 of the 5 players with major minutes last night are coming back in 2018-2019.
(6) If my memory is correct Taya put up 3 3s in the first 90 seconds of overtime (someone check it out for me). She missed all 3 and coach left her in. That is a BIG statement from Coach R.
(7) It's great to beat a team that beats you on paper. It doesn't happen that often in real life. But with Coach R running the show it happens enough in Corvallis that many of us come to expect it.
(8) Like 'em or not, the Ducks are good. Very good. They beat UCLA at Pauley and that's no small deal. They're talent rich.
(9) REALLY impressed with the Girls. They had several chances to fold and they didn't. Happy for KatieMac drilling a killer 3 at the end...Forgotten in the mayhem was Pivec's absolute, total clutch 3 in the last minute...
(10) I was among the many who predicted an Oregon win. I loved being wrong.
GO BEAVS !!
