I'm trying to think of a Freshman forward in recent OSU WBB history who started out of the gate as impressively as Taya has.
I'm drawing a blank.
The 2017 recruiting class - Corosdale, Goodman and Grymek - aren’t wasting any time making an impact.

The best freshman debut was Alyssa Martin's 24 points back in 2010, and she was pretty impactful.....but I think the sky-high ceiling that Taya has is obvious to all. The entire class is coming into its own, and you are right, they are certainly making an impact.
That said - should we expect any less? Taya is a 5 star, 26th overall, 6th best forward out of her recruiting class, Grymek was the #1 juco recruit, and Goodman was a 4-star, 63rd overall, 12th best PG in the class. That puts Goodman in Sydney Wiese territory, and Taya in Mik territory. Can't wait to see what the second best center in this year's class might add to the party next season, or what a front court with 6'9", 6'8", 6'7" and 6'3" height will look like. (Though the impact of losing Marie is not to be underestimated). It's been fun to see what SR has accomplished with mostly 3 and 4 stars (all star ranking discussion aside). Will be interesting to see where he can take a team of mostly 4 and 5 stars....

The promising thing is that the program has reached a point where each years' newcomers are important contributors (just like this years). Rueck is proving that he really has that pattern down. Next year it'll be Slocum, AA and Simmons. That's so different from a program like UW, where they were tremendous last season...but pretty weak this season.
Corosdale is indeed starting to show the skills of a future top notch PAC 12 player. I was so impressed with a couple of her passes yesterday in to Marie or Jo. Each had no margin for error... and each QUICK and perfectly placed.
With 12 games to go before the post-season, all against pretty good to great D1 teams, it wouldn't surprise me to see her rapid growth continue, just like last season with Pivec in the latter portions.

I have a feeling that Patricia Morris will be a contributor as well.

For those who believe that AA & PM will have an immediate impact next year, here is a point to ponder when it comes to recruiting top talent:
In last night's Texas-UConn game (won by UConn in a squeaker). These 2 teams signed the #1, #3, and #4 players in the National 2017 class. NONE of them played a single minute in last night's game.....
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has a solid explanation for this. (I don't follow either team.) GO BEAVS !!

Also, don’t follow either team. Possible explanations other than talent could include injuries or academics. As far as “impact”, that’s a higher bar than the descriptor “contribution”. For the latter, relevant recent examples would be Pivec last season and Corosdale / Goodman this season.

It seems like SR likes to have everyone on his team play a few minutes from day 1. That may also be a function of him not trying to have 15 players on the roster, but ~12. But it also seems like he doesn't "hand the keys to the car" to new arrivals, that they have to displace the incumbents. I don't know if being a day 1 starter sealed the deal for Yeaney and Westbrook to go where they went, or whether that "displacement" occurred in Indiana/Tennessee practice. or the starter had graduated leaving things wide open....
That said, I didn't know that the UConn-Texas tilt didn't feature any of last year's top players getting a minute.... No explanation here.

The 2 top recruits at Texas are averaging 21 mpg combined. So they are getting playing time. In a tight game like UCONN vs UT, it's no wonder that these players didn't play, however. When UCONN has players like Samuelson, Nurse, and Collier, you can't expect a frosh to crack the rotation in a critical game. Same with Texas. Texas almost beat UCONN in that game.

Plus, a lot of UCONN games are over before halftime, so it's easy to give newbies time in those games.
