Easiest way to solve a rat problem in your house: Get yourself a Jack Russell Terrier. I'd let you rent mine, but his rat-hunting days are behind him.

We have a barred owl roosting at our residence in Corvallis and have noticed a drop in the rodent population. Lots of owl pellets under its tree. Although we have always had owls on the farm east of town, it's relatively new to see them in town.
