It’s a moot point, because rules are rules, but I found myself wondering “what if” after the shellacking in Pauley and the two close losses to top teams earlier. How different might things be with Destiny running the point for us THIS season?
Imagine her getting a year with Goolich. Destiny was the National Freshman of the Year last season, over Ionescu and everyone else. She too was a top 10 recruit out of high school. She’s every bit as tough as Sabrina. I don’t say that to cast doubt on Ionescu’s talent or impact at all - she’s a game-changer for sure - but look at oregon without her, and realize that the same difference exists for us without Destiny. She’s strong and poised and gifted...and tough.
Again..”if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...”. But I can’t help thinking about the difference she would make against these athletic guards with her skills and leadership. It does get me pumped for next season, but I just wish that she could have played with a seasoned and talented big like Marie for a year. Next year we should be very strong, and I can’t wait to watch Destiny lead us.
At the end of the day, we still are going to be in the thick of it and have a nice year this year anyway, but without that lead dog perimeter player like we had with Jamie and Syd, we’ll have some bumps along the way. Even those studs had their rough moments against elite athletes.

Same here. Last nights difficult performance drove me to u-tube this morning to re-watch some of Destiny Slocum's freshman year at MD. Wow and wow.
Shot creation / 3-pt range / dribbling / Magic Johnson-ish passes. I don't think I've EVER seen a Beaver WBB player with that level of skill set.
AND! that was as a 18(?) year old Freshman. Beavs will get her on-court as a very matured 20(?) year old sophomore that has had the opportunity to scout the entire PAC 12 from bench level. No matter what Sabrina I. does "to" the current WBB this season...payback next season could delicious.

Notre Dame must have shipped a lot of candy and nuts to whatever committee decides if transfers have to sit out a year (grrrr). I doubt many other Pac-12 teams have the skillset to cope with what Cori Close has going on at UCLA this year. Will be interesting to see how the 'ucks fare against them.
Let's just hope AA and PM (and next year's version of Jo Grymek) by committee make us not miss Marie as much next season. The lack of jitterbug quick guards has been our Achilles heel for the entire SR era (note that he has tried to recruit them, just not been able to land any until DS and JS).
Go Beavers!

Yes, no "jitterbug quick guards", but at least Syd and Jamie could create their own shots when a play broke down....this years Beaver team is lacking this as well. Not good.
